Any others on here have an off in the snow. Did the 16 miles no sweat just slow and nil visibility(Visor up or down made no difference) and no shelter. 600 yards from home back wheel touched the center rib of snow and there I was off. Probably only doing 2 or 3 MPH. Red Ford Focus was sliding toward me so I shoved the bike at his car to protect me, fortunatley he stopped about a foot or so short by turning his wheels into the kerb. He was a little surprised to say the least. He opened the window to ask if I was OK yes thanks I said and proceeded to pick up the bike (NOT and easy task when ones feet are slipping annd sliding all over the place) Then asked him to move the Ford so that I could move the bike, did a half decent "U" turn and went home. Had a good look at the bike this morning and can't see a mark on it not one, so convinced was I that there would be at least some minor damage that I actually checked the left hand side as well. Not a mark
So reason for the post has anyone else come off and not marked the bike at all? or offer any explaination as to why. My only thought is that the compacted snow acted as a cushion.

Dropped my adventure at walking pace the other day outside my house. Only damage is rubber bung in the end of the engine / crash bars .

Yup, dropped mine lots with no damage......Crash bars and Vernatechs will take a lot of abuse before they mark up

Then again, I've dropped her a few times and scuffed them up as well

The joys of owning a proper bike made of proper metal rather than brittle Tupperware

Dropping an 1150

Yes I dropped mine a few years ago when virtually stationary in the snow - I think (or like to think) that my foot just slipped away. I picked it up (NOT for the first time) with no damage-a tribute to the standard BMW bars. I wrote at the time (where I cannot remember) that IF the bike had been 30kg lighter and a lower centre of gravity it would not have happened. Later I bought a 1200GS....and OK so far! But I did not venture out yesterday on the bike - I put snow chains on my car and was the ONLY vehicle able to move anywhere apart from the 4WD. It is pretty hilly in this region; Today all the snow disappeared. Brian South of Lyon

I had about a 15mph off when offroading and jumped off as the front wheel went from underneath me.

Just some light scratches to the right side crash bar, no marks anywhere else.

Oh and dented ego as I fell off in front of a horse....

Once, I was at a bike rally with friends back on my old trusty Honda CBX1000, we were all reving and making a fuss when I slipped it into gear and tryed to take off, I swear I must have gone round 360 degrees before dropping the bike on myself. Not good. Just a broken pride to take home, oh and the 'best bike in show' award!

Dumped and buried (so no one nicked it during the night) and retrieved later on.

Had a couple with my hard-worked early 1100---snapped a front indicator stem each time---they should be rubber mounted---superglue worked well and you couldn't see the join
