Well, it was a 7.30am cold start. I met a fellow KTM mate (David) in Randalstown and he pointed out that the puddles were still frozen. Met up with another KTM chum (Barry) in Letterkenny and then on to Ramelton for Breakfast with Jockser and The Celt. Tuned arrived a little later due to a flat battery on the bike.
We then went out on a section of off-road that we (Tuned and I) have been on several times before. I think most people enjoyed it. Fair play to Tuned and David for doing it on road tyres. The first bit was fairly muddy and I am sure the wet weather didn't help.
A disused railway track was the next target and by this time the wind and rain was picking up. Barry, The Celt and I decided to give it a go whilst Tuned, Jockser and David went to explore some fords on a road close by. We arranged to meet them there.
Contrary to my imagination, the disused railway had no sleepers or anything like that. It was simply a 'green' lane now with the occasional hint of its past life in terms of the blasted out rock that forms a kind of wall either side of the lane at times. It was so wet and miserable that I never bothered with the camera yet as it was safely tucked in under my jacket to ensure it stayed dry. However what happened next deserved to be recorded for posterity.
Firstly, the terrain got a little more 'damp' and I noticed that The Celt had fallen in the mud. I got off my bike to walk over to help, fumbling for the camera with my numb hands....CRASH!!! I turn round and the strong wind has blown my bike over! The camera is then forgotten about as The Celt and I go over to my bike to lift it. It landed on its right hand side and I was worred that the mirror would have broken the brake reservoir. As it turns out, it was fine. One broken mirror was quickly discarded with.
Our attention turned to Joes bike again as it was agreed with Barry that the situation was not looking good. We turned his bike with a bit of heaving when CRASH!! down goes my bike again with the wind
On to Barry, who was further on down the track. See pics below.
It was decided to try and get Barrys bike up the embankment to less muddy land but it was still difficult as you can see!
We eventually tagged up with the lads at a pub and had a bite to cheer us up as we were all drenched!
