going on the stena bike day next saturday with a friend, both on 1200GS!
1st time across on a bike anybody else going over & anybody suggest some good roads route etc?

No plans to go in the near future, unfortunately :(

Only been once on the bike and apart from the first few miles after Troon all the roads were great & once you cross the Clyde you're in bike heaven. We spent 5 days along the west coast & could have spent much longer as there was so much to see & do. I'm sure somebody more experienced will be along shortly....

I particularly enjoyed the east side of Lough Fyne, around Lough Leven, along River Orchy, the road out to Applecross & the bottom end of Skye :bounce1

Enjoy :thumb2

For quite a few years Ken and I went to Dunoon for the Highland Games :oonyack. Mighty craic, lovely town great roads. Just north of Greenock. We took a ferry across to Dunoon. Since your only there for the day it might be an option for you.

Wouldn't bother heading that far north since its a day trip, as there are plenty of good roads in the Borders without a trek through population to find them. Attached are a couple of routes that will take you over good GS roads and off the main drags....The new Cumnock negotiates a few roads with Grass growing up the middle.....which my mates negotiated on a Duc and fireblade the last time we were over:D

There are plenty of places to stop for tea lunch and afternoon tea on these routes.:) Loads of other good roads in the area esp out toward Hawick and Kielder enjoy!
