if you have Hepco and Becker panniers (Expedition) could you take a quick photo of the set up from the rear for me please????????:thumb2

i fitted mine today and they do not "sit square" from the rear they sort of tilt in at the top... do they all do that? or have i cocked up the fitting... do not think i have as the rails only seem to go on "one way"......

thanks in anticipation

Exped Panniers

I fitted the H & B Exped Panniers a couple of years ago.
Luckily.......for you........I did take a few piccies.
You are right, the panniers tilt in at the top and also in across the rear.
This is best seen from the picture taken from the front.
Very pleased with them except that two years on they look very weathered.

They look so wrong... and the fact that's how they're supposed to look doesn't help one bit.

Thanks Dazlove.... that's exactly the same as mine, also found a rear view shot on ADv Rider showing the same.... When Steptoe contacted me to say they all do that it sort of put my mind at rest... that at least i'd fitted them correctly, does seem a bit strange though to have them "On the piss"...

I used some spacers to pack my frames out because I thought they looked crap mounted on the piss :)

Looks like a spacer or two on the left side top mounts ought to square things up a bit.

I made some spacers for mine a couple of years ago out of a bit of S/Steel tube I had lying around....I suppose I should fit them.....I quite like the Pissed look though :D.

Gotta say they look a bit of a lash up with them sitting at weird angles (not help by the asymmetry due to the different sizes). The huge gap between the pannier and seat on the nearside one due to lack of an exhaust cutout doesn't help either.

My previous post wasn't intended as an insult.. apart from at the manufacturer themselves. Seems very bad to me that items of this kind of price don't fit correctly 'out of the box' - without messing about with home made or sourced spacers and the like.

Its simply not what you should expect from a company such as H&B.

Though.. could be that its a kudos generator.. the pre-crashed look. :thumb

ere we go...

lots of talk ref Spacers..... does this not put "stress" on the lower mounts if you "force" out the upper mounts.... i'm no welder/fabricator but should we not worry about opposing forces... oh well, i have them now and SWMBO will not let me buy anymore......

I sold my GSA recently & the chap who bought it wanted H&B rails fitted.
The first set fitted as poorly as yours, after a lot of complaining, they sent another set.
They aren't just as bad.
One thing that confused me was that Moto Bins said the 850/1100/1150 kit was also suitable for the GSA, even though it was a different part number. I thought this strange, so I contacted H&B.
They said the rails are the same, but the fittings have different spacers.
I will be on the phone again to Moto Bins in the morning.

I must add, I don't think they are well made anyway, & would fit SW Motech myself.

I've got some too, excellent panniers.

Mine are on the piss but not that much IMO.

Never caused me any issues.
