Anyone buy a F800 Adventure?

The bmw navigator adventure? Is it Bluetooth or what way r u hearing the instructions

True enough. It's all u need. I'd say where it's placed it's not getting any bother with sunlight. My 660 mounted in middle of bars is invisible in the sun

I got the travel edition too. I got the ESA and all the other bits.
It is a far more manageable bike than the 1200 adventure. I think if you are going to do a lot of traveling and traveling off road than its a better bike.
If you are going to do a lot of traveling on the road the 1200 is the better bike.

Low down speed creeping along the 1200 feels better. The 800 stalls easier. But it's easier to hold if the stall does catch you out.
Sensible motorway speeds there isn't much to choose.
Autobahn speeds the 1200 is the better bike.
Around town the 800 is a better bike. Better for getting between cars as its smaller and lighter.

Handling, I prefer the 1200.
I got tkc's on mine and have never used them before. So I'm not sure if its the tyres I'm not keen on. My standard f800 felt better with the standard tyres.

Hi, the TKC80's give the bike really slow steering as the front profile is flat.
I road the demo at Pidcock's which has them fitted and couldn't believe how slow the steering is compared to std Pirelli scorpion trail tyres, the difference is night & day!!

For info i choose the pirelli option :bounce1

What a beauty! Enjoy enjoy your bikes all of you.

Good advice on running in - don't forget you are running in the tyres and the brakes, also yourselves.

Under 5000 revs for 600 miles is as stupid as the "ride it like you stole it" nonsense.

I'm running in my 2011 F650 Anniversary as it only had 300 miles on when I bought her a few weeks ago. I started with 4000 revs and am incrementing 500 revs every 250 miles. If I'd started from new I would have commenced at 3000 revs. I consider the running on period to be several thousand miles (ie before I would give her prolonged full power) and would not expect the
Mpg to stabilise until around 6000 miles.

Ride safe

I bought a full spec 90th GSA for only a bit more than some on here paid for a 800GSA te.

Having owned a 800 gs in 08 I think they have really grown the price of this bike. And now even further with the GSA edition.

The quality just isn't there on 800 models, I think they use cheaper components than on a 1200.

So 12k versus 13k seems mad.

I do like the 800 for its light weight and fuel consumption 70 mpg from memory on a run.

But the big GSA makes me smile more and all that goes with it.

Paddy that's a bit unkind to 800 owners.

Having owned 1 standard GS, 4 GSAs and two f650s I actually disagree with you. It's not the quality that is missing, just a shedload of weight.

The 800s are an altogether different level of biking, much more user friendly and easy to live with. Even MCN described the effort needed to extract the GSA from the MCN garage as "Herculean"

Yes the GSAs are wonderful and I'd love another one but it would reduce my biking opportunities not increase them.

What miles are yous getting to a tank on the adventure model? I can squeeze nearly 250 from standard tank cruising really steady

Why this obsession with miles per tank?

Hands up all those who've actually been somewhere with fuel stations more than 200 miles apart? No? So you just fancy carrying that weight around to reduce your mpg huh?

And why can't BMW design a slim, legal silencer? The Scorpion on mine is slim enough that the panniers don't stick out, and it's legal, so why can't BMW do it?

Otherwise a great update and a long time coming! :)

Be nice just too have the option too carry bit more fuel. Then can ride all day and never think of fuel.

Yes it has Bluetooth but I haven't connected it to anything.

Er, no. The BMW Navigator Adventure (Garmin Montana 600) does not have bluetooth OR a 3.5mm headphone jack in the power cable. The only option the BMW unit comes with is to plug a 3.5mm headphone socket directly into the top of the GPS unit. :blast

CW Motorcycles are helping with the cost of providing an OE Garmin mount which does have a headphone connector! :thumb2

I'm interested if someone can do a real life fuel range test. Bmw claim max range of 260 miles but if I get about 60mpg like my current 800, 24 litres would give about 318 miles.

My first 2 tanks were both within spitting distance of 320 miles
taking 23l and 22l respectively. the OBC is stating 57mpg.

That's 63 - 66 MPG calculated. My std F800 also under calculates MPG (60 cf 66 on a 350 mile ride back from Scotland.

My F800GSA is returning 64.6mpg (act) with 63mpg (ind)
That was over 273mile trip & adding 19.2ltrs :)

For info, only covered 700miles from new so still part running in!

Morning

I have acquired on of these on Friday, still running it in , but onboard is saying 60mpg. Stunning bit of kit though.
