I cancelled the offer they had set up well before line going live , but now got hit for a £80 bill saying that it went live on 13 Sepember and I won't get money refunded as it was my fault . Can I do or say anything to help me get money back , they already admitted they got message to cancel contract well before going live . What can I do ??? Thankyou

Regulator but you will need proof. They will drag their feet but if you have a record that you cancelled before they changed you you have a chance. They will mess around but if you are in the right and are prepared to spend the time on it you should win in the end. JJH

All deals / contracts must have a 'cooling off period' where you have a right to cancel - were you in this when you cancelled ? hope you get it sorted - these companies can be difficult because the numpty you speak to doesnt have authority to deal with complex issues. keep bugging them or ask to speak to a manager - or write a polite but firm e-mail ? best of luck

Thankyou very much . Will keep bugging them , it's cost of all calls , they arnt free call numbers .

Write, quoting the relevant sections of the contract you used to cancel before the account went live. Copy the cancellation letter you sent - you did cancel in writing didn't you?

If you phone a call center you will just keep going around circles. Letters give you a paper trail which makes referring the matter on to OFTEL easier if needed.

However, for £80 it might be just as well to write this off to experience as the amount of time involved is diproportionate to the return.

Good luck ! Until recently their call center was in cork. But they gave 30 days notice ... made all staff redundant and moved the center to Mumbai :blagblah

Bunch of Barstewards

Glad I got shot of them earlier in the year.
Charge like the light brigade even when not entitled loads of hassle obtaining a refund.
Good luck
Frank

Sounds like I don't have much chance . It's costing a fortune in calls anyway

Explain your issue. Ask them for a name and a reference number. Tell them you'll need that for the relevant ombudsman if you're not looked after by the end of the week.
Can't do any harm and you're more likely to be looked after appropriately.

It worked for me some years back. 6 months of phone calls, faxes, e-mails and one mention of the ombudsman had it all sorted in days.

Many Thanks for all advice , I got my money refunded by cheque this morning . It pays to know what to say when they try to keep money . Thanks again. Geno

Biggest shower of w**nkers I have ever had the misfortune to deal with- they are fine if you never need to speak to anyone- if you have a problem you are stuffed! Roll on April when the contract is up. Don't go near them save yourself a sh1t load of grief!

Turned into a bit of a rant, sorry - just my tuppence worth anyway :)

Mirrors my experience with them - Talk Talk are hopeless f:censor:

Shite Talk.....

Me too FWIW, we actually paid £80.00 to be rid of the twats. Seemed ok to begin with then was soooooo slow and stop with our broadband connection. They wanted £120 for some cnut to visit the house just to confirm the slowness......:blast

With BT now and all seems to be well with the world (well, my world anyway) and with any luck we might get yeon BT supreschnell broadband soon.

I know some other folk with the same probs.
