Anyone else experiencing the "known problem" with the alarm and ASC?

So BMW designers have cocked up yet again!!!
When will they produce something that works first time?
I thought Ewan mcgregors sidekick was supposed to trial these fully in the Brecons.?

I have got ASC and BMW alarm on my 2007 GSA and it's just fine and dandy :bounce1

Guess I am a lucky one

Bristol Motorrad have said that the update is not available yet. Would be very interested to hear when someone has had their bike updated.

Here's a top tip:

Take bike to dealership, arrange for alarm's removal, dump it in the bin.

I'll never have another alarm on a bike again. They are a total pain in the arse.

+100.....................waste of fecking time

BVM say (by their statement):
They have the software update ready (I was supposed to have it done yesterday).
BMW GB only did their first update this week...
They need a code for my bike to do the reflash. BMW GB don't have it, so they're poking BMW Germany. Should get it by Tuesday and it's a matter of availability after that...

So in other words its a bit like inventing the milk before the cow??

*shrug*
BVM said they themselves screwed up - they fitted the alarm as a dealer-fit when BMW's own documentation says not to do so. Which is where the conflict between the alarm and ASC comes in.

BVM are sorting it, as is right, but need all the resources lined up to do so. Such is life.

:augie

More a case of what dont they screw up.
Trouble is the GS is the best selling bike of year, so they arent really bovered about us experiencing all these faults. They are wallowing in their sales figures.
Profit from these bikes has probably exceeded all expectations which enables them to fix everything under warranty without changing the design.
We are just pawns in BMWs game.

I didn't go for the ASC option but do have the alarm which works when it wants to and the heated grips have only worked twice in 2 months. The bike is booked in for the first service this Saturday so I'll see what they come up with. So far they've not mentioned anything about software upgrades or known problems. :nenau

Welcome to your first taste of Bmw quality parts.
You havent even made it to the first bloody service.........
Im so sorry........my condolences.

07 GSA

Hi guys,
i have the same problem on an 07, bike is fitted with alarm and asc.
on occasion the alarm will not arm unless i "reboot" the bike,
never even bothered to bring it to the dealer, am fighting with them already over more important stiff like a slipping clutch.
oh yeah, ASC has always worked fine

My new 2008 GS1200 does not have the ASC or alarm, but I am having trouble with the heated grips, they work but at about 30% of normal power compared to my last 05 GS and a new 1200 RT, and that is on the high setting.

The bike went into Vines for its first service last week and they said that it was a 'known issue' and that a software upgrade would sort it out. However, the long ride home confirmed that there was no change and a back to back ride on the RT confirmed this on Saturday. What a bummer this will mean return trips to the dealer when all I want to do is ride the thing, having just fitted the Remus header pipes.:D

Anyone with more info out there?

:)

just playing devils advocate, but I think you should be paying a little more attention if there is an issue.

If said 'feature' allows a bike to be stolen there could be a cause for non-payment by insurance companies as its a known (although not fixed) fault?

Just my 2 penneth...

Just a quick up date on this.
The fix is out and my RT has been done. I've had it fixed nearly a week now and evertything is working perfect

alarming

had the same problem with my 06 new from the work shop at the time, was charged for an alarm that i did not want and was not on the bike, then was talked into takeing the alarm :mad:anyway 1 week to go headin to france left bike in for 1st service and to get alarm fitted only to be told 3 days later they were havin problems that the alarm, would not marry with the soft ware
so i told to them take it off, not to be,then they said the reason it would not work was because the bike came in with mph clocks on, they changed them to kph
as they have too, in order to get me up an runnin the only way they could do it was to change the clocks back to mph and when i come back from my hols they would have a new set of clocks waiting for me, which they did in fairness to them, never went back to get them could,nt be arsed
