I think I am going to see how it goes ... if I feel uncomfortable in the group (i.e. going too fast)

Don't try to catch Neil to get him to slow down then   :D

I'll be riding down from Maidenhead.
I plan to leave about 6:00am.
Do you wanna meet at Taplow Sainsbury's?

Paul

I am definately going, just starting to book channel crossing and hotel for Friday night. :wave

James....I will meet you and Forry on the A1 on Friday, will PM you later in the week to confirm exact location and time. By the way the white suit looks lovely. Will go well with my little red number. :D

Novice....if you think you are slow, just wait until you see me. I have covered less than 2,000 miles since I passed my bike test, first bike is GSA. We can no doubt plod along together. I dont have GPS but learnt to map read in boy scouts so should be ok......that reminds me....better buy a map.

Steptoe.....I will PM you with my details (phone, name etc) I think the channel crossing you lot are booked on is now full so will either get earlier one and dawdle along or get later one (half hour) and..........errrr........catch you all up.

See you all soon!

I have been getting into the 'feel' for this small corner of the Dark Continent by eating dates for the last three weeks

I must warn you, we're aiming to do 750+ miles a day. Not just one day, but a couple of non-stop long days. it's not easy, and there maybe no way of being able to catch up -

As i keep stressing, this isn't a gentle tour with an early stop in the late afternoon, allowing the slower ones to catch up if they're miles/hours behind.

No rest till Morocco - thats why the post is titled " Anyone fancy a quickie to morocco" .

But once you've done it, you'll have a fantastic sense of achievement, and won't be put off by distance again

And i didn't want you to think of you struggling

Steptoe,

I am sure I will be fine, but I really appreciate your comments and concern. I have a place on the Costa del Sol so if you feckers leave me behind I can always stay there for a few days. However, youngest daughter requires toy camel bringing back so its Morocco for me.

Couple of questions which I am sure you as an experienced traveller can help me with:-

Bike has Datatool system 3 but is it worth taking chain and lock as well.

Insurance company (eBike) will only cover me in Spain and France but not Morocco. Is this a problem?

and finally.....

where do I buy the stick on ears for me lid ;)

Welcome Maclip

By all accounts there must be thousand going by now :D 3 of us are leaving Scotch Corner around 11:30 on Friday so would probably be passing by Barnsley around one ish

Neil...just been reading page 14 of the itinerary.......I see that after the tea stop that you've scheduled for 16.48, you've only allowed 3 mins 10 secs for the photo op at the mosque, when every other photo op (see page 2 (3 mins 45 secs), page 5 (3 mins 55 secs) and page 23 (4 mins dead) ) you've allowed more time.

Is this deliberate or was it a typo???

Shoddy planning if you ask me ;)

Thats the idea - no "members only" on this run,

how are you meant to find out if you want to "belong" to a group if they only take "members only" .

I was alway under the impression that to get new blood in a "club", you've got to show them what you can offer. Not refuse unless they're members, or am i missing something  .

Sorry for going off at a tangent. I may explain over a beer :D or two

Punters at the hotel Friday night?

How many of us are at the Yak and Yeti hotel on the Friday night?

I think it's:

Wapping (me)
Maclip
Whatton
Forry
Steve?
Richard Stevely

Could well be wrong -get the feeling that there are some more of the northern contingent?

Richard
