I've got a DB9, which I've been offered £17k for as a trade in against a Porker. There's a fair chance I'm going to take up on the offer but before I do, if anyone is interested in matching it, let's talk.

Some details:

* 2006 DB9 Volante (convertible)
* 5.9 V12 Auto
* 42,500 miles
* Black with ivory interior
* Fairly comprehensive service history (mostly Aston main dealer).
* Last service (specialist): Aug 2025
* MOT: Aug 2026

For 12yrs, it was owned by an old-boy in Nth London, did approx 600miles per year (that's right... 600miles) and serviced annually by a main dealer. It isn't a 'Garage Queen', it isn't without its faults, niggles & blemishes but that's what attracted me to it as you can drive & appreciate it without being too precious about it.

The back story is that I've always fancied an Aston, so last year I bought this on a whim, to scratch an itch and to use for road trips with my partner. However, my partner just can't get comfortable for any length of time due to her back problems :blast so we've continued to use the Cerbera for the trips and I've been using the Aston for the glorious V12 soundtrack.

So what are the 'niggles"?

* Gearbox - When driving in auto, the changes aren't smooth and can slip in the upper gears when being driven 'enthusiastically'. I deal with this by either driving 'normally' or shifting with the 'flappy-paddles' if I want to get it above 3,000rpm for the V12 soundtrack (as that's when the exhaust valves open). I've not managed to fully diagnose just yet but a worst case scenario is £5.5k (inc vat & fitting) for a recon box from Bristol Transmissions.
* Plugs & coils - It's due a set...
* N/S rear parking sensor.

The car is usually either in Swansea (SA3) or Gloucestershire (GL50).

Drop me a DM if interested and I'll get some more pictures up in a bit.

That's an itch I'll never get to scratch. Beautiful looking car, but sports cars are not an option as I too have back problems. If I could get in, I would struggle to get out. It has to be an SUV for me.

Which Porsche are you going for?

GT4 but with the adjustable seats rather than the buckets.

I've been hankering after a Vanquish, so the other week we went around to try some of the later cars but she still couldn't get comfortable. We then dropped into a Porsche dealer, tried the GT3 & GT4 but the buckets were still just as uncomfortable, even for me!! We then tried the GT4 with the 'comfort pack' & adjustable seats and it just fitted like a glove.

I know it's very much a 'first world problem' but there's no point in having a long-distance road trip car which you're not comfortable in. :nenau

Thought I'd better go and get some quick pics before it starts pissing down again.

But think it's gonna be a hard sell with the gearbox issue.
I'm not selling it, it's being traded in as a part exchange. I'm just sticking it up here to see if anyone is interested before it goes.

As for the gearbox, I'm being open and honest as I'm not into 'pulling a fast one'. If I was going to keep it, it'd be booked in to be fixed... It could be anything from needing to relearn the adaptives (rolling road session for a couple of hundred ££), cleaning the valves through to a full replacement gearbox. I asked Bristol Transmissions to quote for a worst case scenario and they came back with:

"Automatic Gearbox Replacement including labour and oil - £4650 + VAT".

Whilst there's no such thing as a 'cheap' Aston, just think along the line of having a nice DB9 for £23k but if I'm lucky it could be a few £££ cheaper. :nenau

It's very drivable as is, I'll probably be doing a couple of hundred miles in it this weekend and if I had the space I'd probably keep it, as it's a nice car to cruise around in.

Bracelet Bay, Mumbles, was there last week doing the cliff walk to Langland Bay and back for lunch in the Lighthouse restaurant.

As a matter of interest, how much is the road tax for this mag docent beast and does the mpg get into double figures?
Yeah, it's not as bad as those Jag V12s... This one is averaging mid 20s per gallon and £430pa tax.

However, there was a change in circumstances this afternoon, so I'm going to close this thread pending...
