After yet another close call with a napping motorist, I must replace that useless meep meep horn on the 12GS. Has anyone replaced the stock horn with the Stebel (wake the dead) Nautilus horn? Having installed one on my KLR, installation is easy, however, I am not sure if the canbus will allow the relay / horn to function. Any ideas?

I installed the magnum with no problem. Cut the connector off and resolder or use Scotchloks.

I have had 2 nautilus horns fitted to my 1150, both have been used in a downpour once and stopped working!
I have now fitted a Magnum and it is less than 1/2 the price , just as loud and much smaller. Well worth consideration. IMHO

Without using any sort of relay? No canbus shutdowns?

Magnum, straight replacement except for the connectors. I was concerned but no problems at all with the electrics. Nice and LOUD and well worth the £9.99.

If you fit these in the place where the crappy oem one was you will probably have the 'horn' part facing upwards. This then collects water and on the first use after sounds like a wet fart

To solve simply drill a hole in the black plastic horn at its lowest point to allow water to egress. now no embarrassing thrppppssss :D

I fitted the magnum with the horn facing sideways. No problems in wet weather. Only problem was when the idiot who cleaned the bike after the service filled it with water. It was a bit muted for a few days....then got back on song again.

Never had this problem in heavy rain, but when I hose the bike down I stuff a piece of paper kitchen towel into the horn.

No problems so far

Get the Magnum from Nippy - 'cos you're worth it :D

Great sound - no more napping car drivers - easy to fit & no canbus problems.

Love it but pity the horn switch is so hard to hit quickly. I usually just scare the driver by activating my left indicator :D :D

Top-tip, thanks. Mine sounds like a wet squeak after washing/hosing the bike until it dries out so I'll do that.

Also worth protacting the front brake pipe just under the new horn as it will probably make contact on hiytting a bump. I know it'll just bend but a bit of spare tubing just prevents any friction damage.
