I had one fitted to my 1200GSA before I collected it.

I noticed the other day that I can start the bike whilst the alarm is still bleeping (i.e. waiting to be disabled). Is this a side effect of the canbus wiring or has the fitter cocked up?

Regards,
Richard

Yeah, sounds like service mode. The sound you hear in bike shop show rooms all over!

i have a datatool.....its the service mode. The service mode is activated by blip the key....turn on ignition the hold the road button down for 2 secs. It thens beeps every so often. To get it back just blip the key and it self arms

Datatool alarm in Service mode

Not sure if being in Service mode is the problem here, but in reply to the statment above, oh yes you can. :rob

The point of Service mode is to allow you to work on the bike, which includes starting the engine etc when making adjustments. e.g to balance the throttle bodies and not have to keep disabling the alarm evey time to switch off the ignition. I know a few people you ride their bikes in Service mode all the time as it saves having to disarm the alarm everytime you start the bike. :thumb

You can turn off the movement sensor by pressing the triangle and the alarm beeps looong once. You can't start the bike then, as everything else is still active. ;)

I don't think it's in service mode. If I don't press the fob the alarm will start sounding... I had the same type of alarm on my old R1100GS and with that one the fuel pump etc. would not power up until the alarm was disabled. This does not seem to be the case on my new bike.

It's definitely not in service mode...

If I arm the alarm and then switch the ignition on, the alarm goes off but I can still start the bike while the alarm is sounding... Time to called the dealer I think!
