Hi guys

I am wanting to up my security level, has anyone had an aftermarket alarm fitted? If so which one and what do you think?

Have been quoted £290 for the Datatool S4! What do you think?

Cheers for any help

I would spend the money on a tracker. Just fitted one to mine, £60 with a years online/tablet/phone tracking (£10 per year there after).

Most alarms are ignored and theft seems to be aimed at loading into a van and breaking for spares later.

If you really want an alarm I think the BMW one is a plug and play set up. Might be worth looking at?

I was out with a new associate couple of weeks ago, he was riding a 2015 Suzuki fitted with a Datatag, broke down after about 2 miles, took two dealers ten days to fix it !

Id go with a Bike Trac or similar tracker

Had the BMW one before it's Tat and no insurer recognises it as it's not approved!

I had a Datatag alarm on my Tiger 1050, which was a plug in to the Triumph loom job after removing the factory bypass plug. I insisted in keeping the bypass plug, which saved the day down in the Ardeche when the alarm refused to dissarm.

The trouble with trackers imho, is that they nick your bike, probably damaging it in the process, take it and park it up somewhere for a day or two. If its got a tracker fitted it gets recovered and given back to you with damage and an insurance theft record. Would you want it back? If it doesn't have a tracker, the scumbags collect it after the couple of days knowing its clean. The only other scenario is the police dont recover it, and lye in wait for the theives to return to collect it........which i doubt would ever happen.

Damned if you do..........

I have had good results with the meta defcom t, its a cat 2 to 1 upgrade,
Insurance recognized, reliable and doesnt drain the battery,
It is well specced, and compact, and well priced,
not a fan of datatool, had to remove many over the years,
