anyone got a discount on a new WC TE

Picked my bike up on March 2nd with discount plus 10% on accessories fitted 'free'.

Dealers have not got the orders they need for the main source of sales, the GS, and need to hit target to get BMW quarterly bonus. The market is weak.

Being local I've been trying to have a deal with Pidcocks whom I've dealt with many times previous and there was some discount being applied for a straight sale on the bike and discount on accessories as my previous post however in the end they let me walk out the door for the sake of £35 ! and there last statement was you will not find a better deal, and the bike would have been delivered in may.

One phone call later sat morn to another dealer i pointed out I'm wanting to buy now and what I've been offered and what id like and they gave me exactly that more discount was given on the bike than pidcocks and the same on accessories and my racing red is due nxt week..

Happy days

I've known Pidcocks since old Roy bought Friary Motors. They have never been keen to do deals. Price is there - take it or leave it. TBH, they've done ok methinks.

No doubt that selling at list makes good money. Dealers have had a good run for the past 10 years but this recession is biting hard with leisure purchases easily delayed. It is so easy to hold on to a bike, maybe get it serviced, and save a few bob compared with getting a new 20% vat bike. Second hand low mileage bikes are bargains.

Will be interesting to see if sales take off when the warm sun arrives .

Certainly there are a lot of new bikes available which is unusual this early in a launch.

You've answered your own statement right there:blagblah:D:D Once the warmer weather comes..........................

This scenario reminds me exactly how I was this sort of time last year , trying to get a good trade in on a 3 yr old speed triple against an explorer...I had absolutely crap offers for the trade in, and a real " take it or leave it " reaction from two seperate triumph dealers. They were smug , satisfied the sales would come whatever , so would not offer much at all. Contrast to my bmw dealer, falling all over me to offer a superb deal on a 12 plate new GS, big trade in, £1700 of free goodies.....the worm doth turn.

I also remember a similar situation in 2005 when same bm dealer salesman nearly fell off his chair when I said I didnt like/ want a GS after my 3 hr test ride.." are you mad" the fellow implied. This was at the height of ewan and charlie time, when dealers liked to dress like hip young guys ! LOL..

Negotiations always depend on timing and demand. I do fancy a LC for sure, but I know to get a similar package to my fully loaded and kitted out bike will be silly money , so will wait a while ! I worked out my GS new last year actually worked out £2200 cheaper than a similar specced explorer cos of the deal.I reckon a LC to same spec with luggage etc will be nearer £15k.I might feel different after a test ride, but its got to be a whole lot better to make me part with my cash this year.

I found Triumph dealers like that but others that would offer a discount.

Money is an almost unlimited commodity. There is plenty swashing around to be accumulated by anyone prepared to put in a little effort and imagination to scoop some up. Time isn't. And one has no idea how much they have. So personally I'd rather treat my limited resource with more respect. And have it now...:rob

Well said that man, Me Too :rob

Well thats a fine philosophy , but this is just one consumer good. You would need "unlimited" funds to apply the same theory to all available desires !

What I am saying is you are obviously so full of desire and are completely self satisfied that such product is essential to ones well being , that you simply " must have it " ! :augie

I said the same thing to myself when I bought my lambourghini.....:blast

lets see what bike rolls along next year , which one simply must have !:drool
