Anyone got a R90S for sale

The problem I have with the concept bike is it's all style over substance while the original R90S was more substance over style. The concept bike strikes me as a toy for posing and not much else while the original R90S was a serious bit of kit that can still cut it even today. I suppose BMW are after a new younger market with the concept: I really am getting old :rob :D

What is it that makes the R90S substance over style? It's not that easy to see to the untrained eye...

Which begs the question, was the original R90S exactly that to the old men of the 70's?

For sure and it caused a big image problem for BMW which they are glad to rid themselves of.

The R90S was quick enough to win races, could tour 2 up all day, be used as a everyday bike and was reliable and easy to service. Which of these roles can the new concept toy fulfil? Its looks are striking and it has nothing in common with the original, even to my untrained eye.

Sounds like an HP2 to me :augie

Ahem, this is the airhead section and the thread is about the R90S but yes, the HP2 has more in common with the original R90S than the concept bike but how much are eggs again???? :D

I've got one ..... less than 5,000 miles from new, (forget the exact mileage), ..... originally owned by a BM dealer ...... I've had it a few years and only ridden it around the garden since we came out to live in frogland.
Stored for when my pension runs out

They ride a lot better than the R100S

a few images from a few years back ....... still in the same condition

£750?? = £75000
I'd trailer it to you for that price

The only replacement the R90S has ever had is a new set of tyres, (apart from service items)

I had a 100S at the same time ...... the 100S was not a patch on the R90S .... seemed a lot heavier generally and especially lower down .... it was a nice Bike though

friend of mine has a 90s outfit,i keep telling him to take off the side car and put the bike back to standard but he likes it the way it is.
something about the 90 being well able to pull teh chair

What a great dealer, pity most of those dealers have long gone:(

A new paint job will be quite expensive ££££'s - not many who can do it these days and I have never seen a repainted bike that looks exactly "right"

The rest of the bits are common to the same period BMs except the carbs

but I suppose even in that condition it is worth the money these days, but I reckon it could cost as much as the Bike is for sale at to restore to a "reasonable" condition - as once you start you tend to completely restore of replace everything

Totally agree...

Would much rather have battered & worn original paint...

Re-painting a BMW 'smoked' finish never ever looks right.
