As per the title, I dropped the bike tonight in the snow and it cracked, leaking oil.

I believe the ones I have are later versions as they say magnesium, but it's for a 2000 1150, single spark.

If not, where would be the best (cheapest) place to pick up a new one, any breakers you can recommend?

Cheers,

J.

Thanks guys, got a scruffy one from Sherlocks which will do me until I get some engine bars. Motoworks are checking to see if they have a shiny one.

£30 and a top up of oil, makes it a very cheap mistake. No bruises or anything, I stepped off it as it went down so I'm fine.

Cheers for the help and advice.

Do you not have head guards fitted? The OE plastic ones are a lot more effective than their construction might suggest and have protected my valve covers from certain damage on more than one occasion, both in stationary drops and in slides along the road. Well worth fitting if the budget doesn't stretch to Steptoe's undoubtedly superior version.

No, only had the bike a couple of months and being trying to decide whether to go with Steptoe's head protectors or the H&B ones. typical that I went down while deciding.

Will be getting a set very soon ;)

Fill the cracked cover with araldite mixed with some cotton wool and refit it.

Pointless putting a new cover on in this weather as your bound to go over again.

Thanks for that, will do so, or with some jbweld that I have. Bought a second hand one for £30 and will repair the current one as a spare.

Will be in touch soon for a service and probably the head protectors too.

Cheers,

J.
