As above :)

Anyone taken a sideways move from a TC GSA to a WC GS? Had a Watercooled out for a while (GS TE 2014 Model) and when I rode one last year, I don't remember being as enamoured by it This time however I was all over it like a rash. Dealer has offered me a fair price, but I've just got my GSA just how I want it :) it will take me a week to strip all the accessories from it if I took the plunge.

So, anyone here done the deal, and what do you think? I'm looking for the positives and negatives after you have gotten a few miles under your belt. Apart from Tank Range, which far exceeds my bladder range on the GSA I'm failing to see to much in the way of negative vibes :) Before anyone says "ride it, buy what you like", I have, and I loved the performance of the toilet, and of course it was more nimble but was frustrated by the fussy (IMHO) controls.

If you moved from a TC GSA to a WC GS, what are the best things about it, and what do you miss from your GSA? I'm looking at a TE, with Engine Bars and 3 box Varios (I already have a NAV 5 to drop on it).

I did.

Positives- a proper bike feel (more engaging) and its really really quick and sounds pure evil at the top of the rev range (standard can). Better economy by about 5 mpg. Tank range usually 200, more on super unleaded. Handling slightly better. Ride quality very good? Lighter to wheel about and easier to climb aboard. Vario luggage very easy to use. Cruise control very handy.

Negatives- switchgear not as user friendly but ok. Vario luggage tiny compared to the metal boxes. Slightly smaller bike so noticeable initially two up but still fine. Screen ok but a wunderlich extender improves further a great mod....now not far behing the old gsa with an extender on. Needs the mudsling badly. Seat for me was awful at first but bedding in now...not as plush as gsa seat though but im doing 3 hours before a stop now if needs must. Dials very poor low down and hard to read. Bars a bit lower and narrower (i put risers on).

Overall, cant think of any major negatives and the new bike has much more fun factor. The only thing i miss about the old gsa is for me you really couldnt beat it for comfort but im happy with this now after a few adjustments.

I dont think you will regret it.

I fear there may soon be a mahooosive list of GSA parts in the for sale section :)

I didn't move from a TC GSA but I did move from an 1150GSA to a 1200mu to a 1200tc to a 1200wc.

On my 1200 TC I did have an ADV screen and winglets, and ADV alloy boxes so apart from the ride height and the tank size it was pretty much the same as an ADV.

Now don't get me wrong as it's only an opinion, but unless you're 6' 2" or have a need to travel 300mls none stop I don't understand the need for an ADV.

When I first moved over from the 1150 ADV onto a 1200 I tried both the ADV and the standard bike and for me there was no comparison the standard bike just felt so much more like a motorbike.

This has continued throughout all the models I've owned non more so than the latest wc incarnation.

I've had my 1200WC for 14mts now and I did go and try the ADV several weeks ago,but for me again the standard bike is just such a far better bike,it feels quicker it's lighter it's more nimble and just a far better experience when making progress.

On the other hand I also prefer the larger alloy luggage when going away, this was easily solved by using TT zega pro range, and the standard WC screen I feel is just as effective as the ADV screen and winglets I had on my TC.

The WC is a great bike and IMHO a better bike than the ADV.

I had 2 hex head GSA's (2006 and 2008) before going for a 2011 twin cam standard GS and after that was written off went for the standard GS WC.

At 6' 3" size never an issue for me but far prefer how nimble a standard GS is compared to a GSA (both old and new).

The new WC is far faster than the old Hex heads and my last one was well sorted by Hilltop :green gri

The only downside that I can see is that you will be tempted to use more of the performance of the WC but throttles do work both ways. If you just fancy a bimble you can still put it in rain mode and soften off the suspension and relax ;)

Seat and screen are the best fitted to a GS so far but that said I still fitted an extra high Touratech seat and a MRA X-creen which make it near perfect for me.

200 mile tank range is plenty for me particularly as the mates I tour with do not have GSA's :augie

If you like the standard GS WC then go for it - nothing to really dislike IMO :D

I traded in an '09 hexhead GSA and '10 camhead GSA for a '13 LC GS.

No regrets at all. The new bike just has more or everything. Power and torque throughout the rev range, more comfort, calmer and more stable handling with ESA suspension adjustments where you can feel the difference, better seating, better lights, more information.
The wind protection isn't quite as substantial, but then the bike is narrower, with a smaller screen.

I loved my old bikes. But when I test-rode the LC for the first time, they started feeling like a bit of a compromise. The LC GS is the first bike I've ever owned where I don't feel much need to change anything because it NEEDS changing.
At some stage, a slightly louder exhaust, a slightly bigger screen, and 20mm bar raisers might (or might not) be on the cards. That's about all I'd change, really.
