My mate and his wife have two, after an accident he can't manage a rwo wheeler. They love them, just visited us whilst doing NC500. See lots in Canada.
Many years ago Wiltshire RoADAR were asked to provide advanced training for one. After some discussion it was decided that the bike team would take it on. I do remember discussing the subject at a tutors meeting, but I don't recall if the guy did his test. IIRC the rider had been a motorcyclist but due to deteriorating health had decided this was his preferred option.
During last years ride across the US we met four couples on Can-Am who were riding part of the same route as us, they thought we were mad, as we thought they were. I can’t say the idea floats my boat.

Magnet’s got one and might be tempted to comment. Nice piece of kit and very quick in the right hands. Her’s has got the 1300 Rotax lump which is a nice motor. Handles very well one you get rid of the back tyre supplied as standard and is more suited to a tractor.
I collected one for a mate , he bought it but it was about 200 miles away from his home. . My mate struggles with mobility, so wanted something he could use to replace his two wheels with three and hopefully continue to ride .
The vehicle is quirky and has very strange handling , I would thoroughly recommend you try one before you buy it . They are definitely an acquired taste , some advantages if you struggle with mobility , but when I ride with him you get stuck in all the traffic and trying to negotiate corners is a developed skill .
please let me know if you need any more info . My mate has been generally pleased with his purchase , it’s been reliable and depreciation is low if purchased used .

Better suited to less congested roads
I have ridden army canams, I also have friends with the Canam Spyder which is more what you are talking about I think.
Unlike most on here I have owned ridden and built trikes in the past... lets just say they are different! I have ridden combo's and am thinking about a minimalist chair to go on my 1100 gs. however trikes do give me more of a grin factor. according to my mate, the Spyder being twin front wheel corners better, the engine is pokey and it goes well. when I get too old and have to choose between 2 and 4 wheels, I may well grab one. I would probably have grabbed one before except that a local dealer closed down and its a fair way to go to get spares etc from where I am.

Chris Baker (who you met at Goodwood a few years ago) used to ride one with his wheelchair strapped to the back. He also had a Harley Trike which was hideous and much less comfortable (according to him).

I saw one a couple of days ago and thought, what a scream.... and then chummie got stuck in traffic and all I was thinking was I'm bored of looking at it now.....!
A friend has one and loves it. It is mostly used to get up mountain tracks in the snow. Three up with full gear on steep tracks is no issue. More importantly, low gear downhill handles really well.
Apparently the one to have is the 1000R. It has the more robust engine..? Happy to ask him specific questions.

Also got a friend , multiple amputee…nasty bike accident….rides a modified one. There’s not too many “normal” bike riders who can keep up with the fucker..
Missed this… but yeah…. I’ve ridden a Spyder F3S…. It’s Jo’s…. She loves it… but rides like an old woman…. Get to grips with it…and it’s fookin’ quick…. Think 2-wheel Super 7
