Anyone interested in a group buy of PCV and Autotune module for GS Twin Cam

Have you got yours Cammy? Would be interested to see how its fitted etc as I'm not to far from you :-)
 
Yep, he has his. I suspect he is fettling away fitting the gizmos. I am personally interested not so much how to install the items, but how to (correctly) setup the PCV/AT300 with the computer.
 
Reading bits here and there I'm not sure if the autotune is constantly running or not. Seem to get the impression you turn it on, ride around a bit then attach it to a pc and check values in a box. If all seem ok you save the map. Am I getting that right?

In theory several people could share an autotune, set up their bike and pass it on. If that's the case you could rent it out every now and then! Advantage to having it fitted all the time would be you could compensate for different altitudes on the fly as well as changing exhaust/air filters back and forth.

According to the Power Commander official website:

"Once installed, the Auto Tune kit monitors the fuel mixture (by installing the included Wide Band O2 sensor in the exhaust). It then sends this information to the Power Commander V and automatically corrects it while you ride. Each map that we offer has preset Air/Fuel ratio values included that we find to be the best overall settings. This lets you simply plug in the unit and let it do the work."

Sounds like its making corrections whilst on the move.

I did watch a couple of "how to" videos on YouTube which suggested that when you have finished your ride, you can go in to the trims and check them out, and if happy you can save out the trimmed map and overwrite the base PCV map which the AT has been tweaking on the fly. In otherwords, I someone please correct me if I am wrong, you:

1. load the PCV with a base tune (lets say its 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 just as an example)

2. when running the AT adjusts the based tune to 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2 as it thinks thats the best for the ride at that time - lets say youve been up at high altitude

3. when you finish your ride and switch off, the next time you start your ride the map will again be 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 and therefore the AT has to review whether to monitor based on whats going on this time

4. if at the end of point 2 you consider "hey, im going to be in the mountains for 2 weeks" you can opt to permantently load the amendments made by AT in to the PCV so it (AT) has less to tweak the next day

Hopefully that makes sense, and of course it could be absolute bollocks. Its just thats what I have interpretted is going on.

No and yes, it might be but sounds plausible! Looking forward to finding out how you guys get on.
 
lets put it this way. if it DOESNT work that way, then I am going to feel like ive been ass-reamed by a donkey. if it only "records" adjustments for you to apply after the fact, thats borderline BFP (bloody f*cking pointless) :)
 
I'm hoping your way is correct. Even if it isn't it will still have saved dyno costs. And if you change anything you wont have dyno costs and as said if you're in the Alps for a couple of weeks you can calibrate for that.

If it is the check then apply map scenario next time I'm in Huddersfield I'll take my 02 sensor spanner and vist Sheffield ;-)

At last. I want one now!

Was all set for a trip to hilltop one day but 9 hours and £65 fuel dampens the enthusiasm a bit. Another thread said straight out the box the PC improved the bike so think this may be the way forward. Will it be on by teatime Delboy???!

No im having it set up on a dyno so wont fit until the day i go to have it done. (couple of weeks probably before he can do it).

When I installed my PCV I just downloaded the default map from the website for my configuration. It improved the bike hugely. I then had a dyne session which it improved it a little further, but the biggest noticeable difference was straight off the bat. Autotune is probably a good way to go for most people.
