Has anyone cored out the cat and ran with the original header (decatted) and standard can.

Does it work as well as fitting headers with no cat or does the open cat area cause problems as the exhaust gases slow down when exiting as the pipe diameter becomes larger?

Thanks

Lucky, this link does take you to someone else who has done the job of removing cat and running with original headers etc but it doesnt tell you how it runs other than short term. It also doesnt really answer your question as to problems with gases slowing down in the new open area.
I read the original thread when it went up and wondered the same point that you have brought up. I would also like to know long term effects if any of the new diameter and interrupted gas flow other than design.

With the 1150 it was easy, stick a 'Y' piece and away you go....:bounce1

You can't with the 1200's so it starts to get a bit Blue Peter or expensive with the headers....:(

I must say though when I removed my headers and got my remus ones with no balance pipe....boy what a difference and with the Remus revolution...the thing seems to fly.....and it makes an awesome popping sound on the over run....... :D

I wouldn't like to just remove the cat and leave the big box in situ....gas flow is everything in an exhaust.....
