Fitting some spotlamps & foglamps on a mate's GS. I'm using the Adv foglamp switch (the one that is mounted in the centre of the bar mounts) to isolate the fogs from dipped beam when necessary.

It's a straightforward BMW illuminated rocker switch, which has 3 wires coming off it. They are:

Post 1 - Brown
Post 2 - Yellow & Purple
Post 3 - Blue & White

Can anyone tell me which supplies power to the light in the switch and which two are the switched wires?

Thanks

Mike:)

Mike,

I don't have a diagram, but you should be able to find out by trial and error...

1) I'm almost certain that brown is ground.

2) Connect Yellow & Purple to +12V and test te switch to see whether the light in the switch goes on/off

If so, the other one is the swithed wire.

If not, swap Yellow/Purple and Blue/White and test again.

That should do the trick. I don't think (don't shoot me if I'm wrong) you risk anything by trying this.

Cheers,
Michel

Thanks Michel (& Roger, who PMed me). For those who may need the information in future, it's the Blue & White wire, attached to Post 3, which operates the indicator lamp.
