When I had Suzuki DL1000 with silver rack, it got scuffed very quickly. What I've done was use paint thinner and rub it until all the paint was gone. It took few hours but it got completely black. Had to do it outside because of strong smell and wear gloves. One uear later I polished it with polishing machine and it looked perfect. Hadn't have scuffs ever again.

that looks good. Why didn't you use paint stripper.. do you think it would damage the plastic surface?
I was afraid as I had some bad experiences in past when paint stripper simply melted some types of plastic. As I'm not an expert who can say the type of plastic by just looking at it, I went harder but safer way.
Ah, and my cheap medical gloves ruptured partly so the skin dried out so badly that later fell of from the areas touched by paint thinner.
