Thanks for the contact number. I just called them - very helpful, CD on its way, no charge... super-dooper.

If I get enough satelite fixes, I can now safely navigate my way downstairs to make a cuppa in celebration.

Version 6 dropped through the letter box this morning.

I will have a go at loading on this afternoon, once I have escaped work for the day.

Anybody came across any problems upgrading to v6?

Do BMW Navigators get free upgrades of the City Navigator?

I was lead to believe that they do but have not heard anything yet.

V6 dropped on the mat this morning, what a performance unlocking it!
Took two calls to Garmin to sort it out, first call to set me on the right road to obtain the new “free” unlock code, second call to obtain the new code after the last page of the “unlock process” froze… Super!
Anyhow, the code is now in and working thanks to Ollie at Garmin, and I’ve backed it up twice once via a Notepad .doc and also via Garmin’s own back up file system.
Control+U / Press backup button bottom left of the pop up window / title & save

As we plan to visit Norway this Spring its good to see the radically improved mapping, Cheers Garmin, good job done!

Loaded card with new V6 mapping, put card in Streetpilot and switched on… Streetpilot unable to read card…Super

Sounds to me (based on my experience) that your problem is more likely with your PC, rather than with the new CD.

Try reloading the chip again, but this time, before you reload the chip, do the following:

1) Disconnect your modem or ethernet connection.

2) Make sure your screensaver is turned off.

3) Turn off or disable any non-Microsoft TSR (terminate and stay resident) programs you might have, like that little bit of shareware that flashes a pair of tits on the screen every time your doorbell rings...

4) Quit out of all your other applications, so the only application you have running is MapSource.

5) Once you start loading the chip, leave the PC alone until it finishes the loading process.

Betcha' this solves the problem.

but Garmin would like to relieve me of $100 to unlock it . Are the changes between V5 and V6 really worth $100?
