Anyone ridden the new LC at night yet?

Brightness

Ello nutty I haven't got one or ordered a new LC but at the preview night one was started up and lights tested at standstill with the led dip/main in darkness and they are *uckin bright and good spread of light ,but the lens is plastic not glass I believe so a headlight protector will be needed to protect the unit as a new one is £800:eek: the cool part is there's a fan to keep the bulbs cool and not overheat, you will get noticed and be seen with the leds for sure :D:D :thumb2

To cover the can also its louder than the twin cam standard can and sounds spot on so no other pipe needed in my own opinion unless anyone needs to save a few kilo of course!!!

I have the Much superior 1150... which gives me the right to look down on all others, and post disparaging remarks..

However I am above that.. so will only say, try and contain your excitement.. and ignore those around you..

I too felt this excitement in early April 2001.. :thumb

Nutty...I have the new Led headlight and have ridden my gs at night. The light is much brighter than on my old gs adv 2010. It really is a better bike all round. Keep counting them hours down until you get yours, it REALLY IS WORTH IT :D:D:D.

Hey Nutty - give it a couple more hours and I'll let you know. :thumb2

I'll tell the wife I'm nipping out to do a favour for someone - as if you need an excuse she'll say!

Now these are the sort of answers that I was looking for.:thumb And to all the others, I say :pullface:pullface:pullface

So I'm sat here watching Arsenal v Spurs and I'm taking in the first half highlights. I must be piss poor at multi-tasking, as I tried reading this thread and got distracted.

in summary, question posed, question questioned, question justified, question rubbished, question forgotten, questions asked of those that question and those that question those qho question.

What was the question and was an answer forthcoming?

Well done Nutty, like you iam a keen, GS,er and keen to hear how the led headlight performs.

Really think some of the users on here need to find a new hobby.?

You know who I mean :aidan

I think the bike looks and sounds great?

Want one myself, just a bit worried about its handling after reading the bike mag road test, it failed to get tank stars due to rider having a mega tank slapper?

But do we believe all we read in the press?

LED headlights are probably the future so hearing people's views is very useful. They are/will be their views but they are a good pointer and may help people decide if they want the option as it is not easy to get a test ride at night to try it for yourself. So keep the reviews coming!

Equally interested to hear(or see) how effective the led light is. Got them on the car and most impressed (jw speaker on the defender) no fans needed for LEDs tho

Interested to see what the LED headlights are like at night. I'll know for myself in a couple of weeks, but some feedback in the meantime would be good:thumb

Just back from a quick blast around. Cold now - things I do .....

The LED head light, brilliant ! It's a very white light as you would expect and gives a good spread to the beam. Dip beam seems a tad low (did have some twat in a Lexus flashing his brake lights at me, I wasn't close so I'm not sure what his problem was!) any way, high beam is good and the visibility must be 200+ feet easily.

I've got HID's on the car....they are so last year now!!

Now stop asking question and be patient !!!

Oh, and I've spent some of the day swapping over the nav mount as I have a 660 and not a Nav 4.......there are a few interesting bits under the body work and I've done mod which I did to my old 1200.................but I'm not telling you, any more......:augie

Evening Nutty

I just went out for a quick 10 mile run round the block to see what the LED light was like for you. Very interesting - on dip, it it is a very precise flat beam, it's definitely a better quality of light than the old twin cam. On full beam it is very good indeed.

However, there are two things I noticed - one is that on dip, the forward edge of the beam spread is extremely precise, ie there is no light spill beyond the edge of the dipped beam. The other is that when you flick down from high beam to dip there is a slight delay after you move the switch and the high beam switching off.

As an aside, the dash backlight is now in cool white as well, and I find it really very clean and sharp, easy to read - big improvement on the twin cam.

Like jonnyp I think the dip beam is too low, so I'll be rtfm-ing that later...

Cheers
Jimmy

Cheers guys, that sounds good. Just need to see how to adjust the height, and then happy days. So if others are thinking of speccing LED's, it sounds like a good box to tick:thumb:beerjug:

I believe that I have really bad low light vision, plus both of my 1200's have been inadequate at night, so I am interested to know about this LED.
It was bright in the showroom last Friday when I took this photo and that wasn't head on and it'll hurt all of your eyes in this post :D

To NUTTY GSER: Really hope you enjoy your new toy. LIGHTS....."Twas and is a good question and great to see the guys with bikes taking the time and trouble to go get the answer for you and for all others interested. Shame about the IDIOTS that had nothing better to say than diss your valid question. Have fun and be safe

It is a very valid question

I found the current 1200 GSA has poor lights and so I upgraded them to HID so that it was more acceptable.

I hope the LED light is adequate as it will save me adding HID

Yes I may be blind

All these twats on here with the negative comments are just jealous of the new bike.

LEDs

Good post nutty I,m waiting for my bike week 13. Good to get the feedback on new bike technology:flag

The real question everyone wants to know is................will the headlight retrofit to the 1150? :nenau
We are all waiting for the first breakdown, that will let the old 1200 riders off the hook, then the 1100/1150 riders will then smell of wee, and the airhead owners will smell of puss:beerjug:

Gs evolution moves on:D
