I just topped up my oil, and the sight glass looks like this.
The oil started to fill horizontally and then spread up the centre and stayed this way.
I fear it is water getting in the oil filler cap. Shouldn't be though - I've not long replaced the cap and it is good and air tight.

Run it until it's up to temp, let it stand and look again. Could be something as simple as the cold increasing viscosity and making it 'stick'.

Run the engine for a minute and let the old and new oil mix.

And did you change the O ring on the filler cap holder (the piece that fits into the rocker cover), or just the O ring and cap.

Thanks both - yes, of course it is just the new oil mixing with the old. Not water.

After faffing around trying to get the right O ring, I discovered that motorworks do the whole filler cap kit for a fiver. Works a treat.

Funny how faffing around, trying to find the appropriate required items can be more expensive and take more time than actually going to the dealer(s) and getting the correct parts straight up.
