I’m planning to go to New Zealand for a month’s holiday in August. Otago, Queenstown, Wanaka, Cromwell and the Coromandel Peninsula. I'll be renting a bike when I get there. Now I'm busy planning everything and searching for a good mobile data provider.
I’ve got a gifted iPhone 16, the US version, so no SIM tray, only eSIM. All my accounts are tied to messengers anyway, so that’s fine. Back home I use an eSIM from EE, but now I’m looking for a travel option.
I’ve had the iPhone for a year and used it in Australia with Airalo. It was patchy most of the time and gave me grief on my break, so I don’t want to use them in NZ.
I’ve been looking at other companies around the same price as Airalo and came across TooSIM. From the reviews they seem spot on over there, and their website lists all the regions I need. They offer 20GB for €23 while Airalo is €32 for the same package, the difference in price is pleasant. Reviews highlights good support, and unlimited hotspot that I don't need but it's a good benefit for them.
Thought I’d ask here as well, so... has anyone tried TooSIM in New Zealand or elsewhere? If you’ve used it in NZ, that’d be a win.

I purchased a physical sim from simcorner (they do e sim as well) for a 2 month trip to NZ, works on the Vodafone network I think, great coverage and we did north and south island, recommended

I usually us airolo, used in far east, Egyot, America and Canada.

I have started you a fresh thread for your “How are you getting about in NZ?” question.

Another Airalo user here.
Worked fine everywhere so far without problems. Easy to top up if running low on data
I'll see if I can find you a referral code

Referral code is NEIL0152 We both get £2.50

We used Horafly last year for New Zealand and Singapore worked well, £60 I think for 5 weeks

Buy a Pay as you go SIM when you get here, Skinny , 2 Degrees or One . Skinny do a cheap data or phone deal with some free data & free calls within NZ and Australia. You can buy them anywhere.
Pete. Napier NZ

Used Horafly last excellent and a good price, also covered in Singapore if you stopping off on the way back which I recommend for the break

When wife and I traveled to Japan earlier this year, I have done a bit of research ahead of time and have chosen Ubigi as my eSIM provider over Arialo, why? Ubigi was connecting to local (JP) mobile infrastructure where as Arialo was routing via elsewhere. Secondly, with Ubigi, you get to keep the number for life, irrespective whether u are in Japan, UK, USA, etc, wHERE AS WITH Arialo apparently this vanishes when your trip is over. I haven’t got a proof of this, but google told me so.

For NZ Ubigi does win over Arialo again.

As always, do your own research, and don’t go jumping on a band wagon, just because fellow forum members have done same. What works for one person, might be completely wrong choice for another, based on where in the world they are traveling to. Just like travel insurance , you wouldn’t buy policy for EU in order to travel to NZ.
