So with needing some upper coil packs some have suggested these from Beru so wanted to ask if anyone has used them and what experiences you’ve had?

I kinda always go BMW for most items but they are so expensive.

When I try and enter my bike details on their site it states they don’t have or do any, so I’ve emailed them to check. However far go on everyone’s experiences as my bikes a twin cam 2011 year.

Appreciate any experiences please

Thanks
Mark

my bike is running beru coils stick from sparkplugs ltd they have been in there 10 years - if you use the TC ones on the Hex head the angle of the lower ones is fractionally out and you'll need to cut one cable tie to allow things to reach

beru make most coil sticks and glow plugs for the motor industry in europe - seem its been absorbed in to BorgWarner - go down the page for the catalogue

Beru made OEM stuff for BMW cars, think they're owned by Borg Warner now. Wouldn't surprise me if the GS coils are made by Beru and just marked BMW.

I replaced my rusting and delaminating BMW stick coils on my “MU” 2008GSA with Beru as they were cheaper and were encased in a shiny stainless steel jacket rather than just rust prone painted mild steel.

ISTR my first Hexhead OE coils (2004 model) were marked Beru on them ?

I went oem on my 1150’s
Slightly more expensive but 2 years warranty and were upgraded in design from the original fitment
Originals had lasted 15-20 years so the difference between aftermarket and oem was buttons

Who do think makes them for BMW ..

I posted recently, these same ones from autodoc.co.uk, complete set for just under 200 quid. And yes BMW ones are the same, just in a different box 🙃

Yeh, this is what I thought.

So these ZS385 work fine on twin cams?

I wasn’t going to change the lowers only the uppers, from what I’ve read it’s mainly the tops that fail lower ones normally fine.

I’ll get a couple ordered then keep the current working one as a spare. Handy to keep in the bike toolkit.

When I enter the bike reg on AUTODOC it’s not showing up using the app. Did you go part number? Would you have a link to the set you got from them. At that price be worth getting all 4.

I replaced all 4 coils from Autodoc at 90K miles the original units were still ok but I now have 4 Known good spares.
I would not dream of just replacing 2.

Ive just looked at the set i procured tail end of last year when i had my rough running

They are just marked BMW with the BMW part numbers

Similar to Mistacat, they are a known good set which will sit in the spares box until needed

changed a few of the primary sticks usually for used ones over the years, last 2 I was involved with with the "rubber" sealing sleeve that fits over the plug down in the head became detached from the stick as I pulled the stick out, removing this then from down in the head effectively destroys it so even if the stick proves electrically good it is now fooked very annoying. On further examination both sticks were marked as BERU I dont remember the history of them and it has never been an issue before on removals (Likely OEM's), perhaps I was unlucky? Any thoughts, experience's suggestions to reduce the risk of this expensive issue. Might be worth keeping any removed failed sticks if the rubber sleeve is intact in case this happens to others.

OEM are beru i believe. I got em from Autodoc, fifty quid each. It's in another thread somewhere recently.

Well, last minute.com due to work. Home late Friday and yesterday new coil packs and a heated grip on throttle side to finish off recent service.

Service from sparkplugs.co.uk was brilliant..

20mins shakedown seems all good, lot smoother or am I just trying to justify in my head the spend 😂

That’s me ready to head off today from western isles for couple of weeks on Emerald Isle and NW200. Never been before so looking forward to it. Got some folks I know who stay on course so should be fun.

Anyone heading over?
