Morning folks,

Is anyone using a Cardo Packtalk Edge Mesh Intercom?

I'm replacing my failing FreeCom1+ and looking to get the Cardo Packtalk Edge Mesh system, but note it uses a magnetic connector, rather than a clip in/on to attach it to the helmet, and wondered how people were finding this, does it feel solid etc?

Thank you in advance..

Yes been using it a while.

The magnet is VERY strong and there is knack to pulling it back off.
when i first got mine i spent 15 minutes tugging and pulling so hard i nearly broke the whole mount..... then i realised you PUSH the front of the holder down lol

If you buy one and you go fast enough to blow it off... i will be so impressed i will buy you a new one 😉 (no chance btw)
Its a good system, you just hold the comms unit close and SNAP! it sucks in and in position... its great.

very good comms system but.... both me and a friend have had no luck whatsoever with the speech instructions.
So if your buying it because you think you can give commands vocally and not have to press any buttons id be very cautious.

@Bonnie Tyler didn’t seem to have any issues on our 10 days jaunt that we came back from yesterday.
Cardo paired up to my Sena SRL Mesh (via BT) seamlessly and quality/clarity of communication transmission was very good.
My Sena SRL on the other hand gave me no end of charging issues. Not happy, so tempted to buy a Cardo myself If Motolegends will not be able to resolve this charging issue for me.

@Barnoe - Ta.

It seems the magnetic lock/attachment failure fear is an irrational one!

In essence, I am looking to buy a new headset, ad like Cardo, having used them for as long as I can recall.

My old Cardo battery is now prone to going flat quickly, and the buttons are a little fiddly.

Plus I'm off to Europe in July, and wish to connect up with others via a mesh system - which my current Cardo doesn't support...

thanks again for the reply..

Weird as I’ve just used for 10 days /2500 miles and the voice commands were pretty much faultless, even with chin bar open at speed .

Mainly music related such as MUSIC ON , MUSIC OFF, NEXT TRACK etc . But worked first time 95% of the time .

Magnet is very strong too . Great bit of kit .

Would use all day and still have 75/80 % battery left .

Bonnie much speak posher than me 😉

I don't think Cardo asked northerners for a voice sample when setting these up lol
i cant get it to work sat at the kitchen table going zero mph.

To be fair the buttons work well and although it takes a week or 2 you get used to the button combinations.

The mesh system is brilliant and each time i meet up with a friend it connect without pressing a button.

would i buy the same again.... yes absolutely 👍

From the Packtalk Bold to the Edge last year
Good few thousand miles and it's not fallen off
Batery life is better than the packtalk ever was
We use in a group of 8, connects every time....2 Edges, 6 packtalk Bolds
Don't use the voice commands.....control either by button or through the whirley wheel

I have used Cardo now for apx 12 years aho1 g9x packtalk packtalk bold and now the edge as with everything in life things get beans in my opinion the edge is by far a very superior bit of kit the magnetic clamp is a great bonus it has never failed me in 12000 miles yes I had a battery issue but the unit was replaced under warranty (3 years if I remember correctly) would I recommend it yes the natural voice commands work almost flawlessly (99%)
It only suffers one down side for me it should have 3 Bluetooth channels

I've upgraded from a Bold to an Edge & love it!! It just connects to other Cardo Mesh products with no problem - my mates & I decided to all go Cardo & have no problems connecting, if a Sean owner joins us for a ride, we'll spend a couple of minutes trying to add them, but if it doesn't work - it's tough luck for them.

The range is amazing! We got split up into 3 pairs on the trail at the ABR this weekend & could hear each other for a heck of a long way, even when people were out of range. And the joy of Mesh is that you drop in & out of groups seamlessly.

Battery life is fantastic!

The clip is solid - to remove it involves pushing a tab down & pulling the unit forwards. To put it on, just get it with a cm & it leaps into position & locks itself on!

You'll love it....
