I am looking to have the cat removed from my headers.

Anyone know where I could get this done?

Preferably in the north east, but dont mind posting them if it is financially viable.

Thanks

Andy

DIY.
Chop through with grinder & stainless disc, smash the cat out, take to a light engineering/metalworkers/fabrication shop to weld up (maybe £20-30)

Ive done quite a few on various bikes with subtle but worthwhile results.

Any real reason for wanting to do that, rather than chop up your headers, you can get a set of black widow, cheaper than the akros, and if you do not like what you have done sell them on later, also I reckon you would need a set of AF-XIEDS or something similar for fuelling, so not a cheap mod in the end.

Me cutting into metal will be like telling my wife she is fat. It would just end badly

It’s for the 1250gs not many around

Nice can of worms opening, wonder if you will be the first, but just a heads up careful, nothing much out there at the moment proven to fix fuelling if fuelling becomes an issue, AF-XIED have not yet a solution for the 1250, and well.........

The question that immediately occurs is why? I also have the 1250 and don't have any complaints about performance or fuelling as standard. And of course, although overall bikes don't make a huge contribution to pollution, nevertheless the cat is there to reduce harmful emissions which are increasingly affecting the population, especially children, so keeping it seems to me like the right thing to do, despite the current loophole where bikes are apparently not MOT tested for emissions.

Probably get it Hilltopped but it has a learning ECU so shouldn’t have any issues

In theory it should not have any issues learning, only thing at the moment that is being talked about is another O2 sensor somewhere, maybe PM Roger 04 T he will surely know a bit better.

1, Check with your insurance company...

2, Although not tested at MOT... Are there any laws being broken.... Could an official body do a roadside test?

3, If you want it louder... why not buy a louder can?

There is a place on Bells industrial estate in Newcastle that specialises in building car exhausts, AAS or similar, may be able to help

what can are you running, mines relatively loud with just a can and no baffle

also, 1200 lc headers should fit, just need the bung welding in for rear sensor

If by headers you mean the pipes coming from the cylinder heads, then those designed for the 1200 are not necessarily going to fit the 1250 as the standard pipes are shorter and routed differently on the 1250, plus the attachment points on the engine will be in slightly different places due to the increased engine size.

Why would I check with my insurance company, I am not actually going to get it done ;)

No one will do a roadside emissions test.

I have a akra can on already.

It’s also about the tone, not just volume.

how about remove end can, use a hammer, longish piece of pole and a good hoover and crevice tool to suck all the crap out after smashing it up?
winner winner chicken dinner

the Akra is quiet, i would consider removing the baffles from it or trying another can before smashing the cat to pieces.
