I'm taking the plunge and going to invest in a R1200GS. Not ridden much in last 10 years, but pretty sure I'd get bored on a smaller bike and then have to buy again in a few months, so going right to the 1200 and doing a refresher course in London and then off to BMW in Wales for more (I heard guys like me coming back after a long break are high risk)... but that's off topic.

I'd like premium and dynamic packages... I like spokes but can't budget a triple black... but there are a couple of nice 09 SE's around...

My big debate is to go for approved used or not??

I guess the bikes will have a better clean up and more checks done, and the security of 12 AUW, but is it worth it? Approved used are over 1k more expensive...

These are tough bikes, right? If getting from somewhere non BMW - are there major things to watch out for?

Advice very welcome! Thanks in advance.

Take a little time to read some of the posts on here The answer to your question lies therein :thumb

ps I wouldn't bother paying over the odds

I'd check out all your local BMW dealers - my local dealer is frequently £1000 more than Williams in Manchester (ex-BMW staff S1000RR's being a classic example at the moment) :thumb2

However, I wouldn't worry about buying a bike still in warranty from elsewhere. I bought a four month old 1500 mile K1200S from a non-BMW dealers and saved probably £1250 at the time. My local BMW dealer did all the servicing work and loads of warranty work without problem.

Thanks for responses...

@bisbee been lurking here a bit and some nice machines for sale here too :)

@sven I spoke to someone at Williams, they seemed good people and do have better prices than other places it seems! I've asked them to find me the right one, so see if it happens...

But if I get positive feedback about Tom Conway Motorcycles I'll most likely buy the SE they are selling...

Cheers Paul, she's a beauty too... just pushing the ol' budget a bit...

The right one will be along soon. :)
