Hello all

I am currently planning a trip over to Northern Spain 1/4 - 10/4 - having reviewed various posts I came up with a bit of an itinerary ...

UK- Santander
Santander to Potes
Potes to Saint Beat - 2 days
Puigcarda
Colera
Vielle-Adour (Pyrenees Motorcycle Tours) - 2days
Pamploma
Bilbao - UK

I haven't been to Northern Spain before so any Thoughts/Comments/Suggestions most welcome :D

If anyone is around at the same time would be very happy to meet up for a beer :beerjug:

i can recomend these hotels

hotel valdecoro - potes
hotel zenit - pamplona

Thanks for the recommendations particularly the one in Pamplona as the is so much choice!

Does anyone have any idea if the high passes are likely to be open this early in the season - from what I gather there has been a lot of snow this year and one resort has even extended the skiing by a week?

...... Counting the days :-D

I did the Picos last year in June, we were lucky as the weather was fantastic. We searched on this site and found lots of great roads and places to visit. The cable car just outside Potes at Fuente De is a good place to visit, the N625 from Ribadesella to Riano, the LE2703 from Portilla de la Reina is a great pass which takes you through the middle if the mountains it joins the N625 and the N621. Also take the AS262 off the AS114 to Covadonga.
Hope you enjoy it, i'm going again in May but going to ride over to Northern Portugal.

If it's like last year you might well be unlucky on the high passes in the Pyrenees. There was still a lot of snow around at the beginning of June.

Certainly in Potes last mid May the San Glorio Pass had been recently closed so you might have to be flexible with your choices 'over the top' as has already been pointed out.

Lovely parts of the world, you'll have a great time no doubt, just be prepared for those chilly moments :)
