Splashed out £350 on an arai tour x 3 . went out on gsa saturday and at anything over 30mph the peak vibrated to such a point as a loud droning noise made riding almost dangerous. Couldnt hear a thing apart from this. A quick grab of the peak stopped it but as soon as i let go it started again.
Has anyone suffered this aswell? I will give it another week then sell it.
Just goes to show that your best helmet is the one that gives you no hassle!:(:(:(

They all do that Sir....:mmmm My Tour X does it and my Shoei Hornet does it to a lesser extent.

To be fair, it's not just down to the helmet. It's the dirty air spilling off the bike's screen that creates the problem.

Fixes include - fitting a Laminar Lip or different screen, stiffening the peak (I've used a piece of screen edge trim across the leading edge of mine), isolating the vibrations of the peak from the shell with rubber shims and believe it or not, using filtered earplugs rather than foam rubber ones.

Love mine

I had the TourX 2 and liked it, tho' the peak on it gave me some trouble until I dropped the screen to its lowest setting (why do most people have the screen set bolt upright and then complain about turbulance :nenau ).

I changed to a TX3 at the end of the summer and it is way better than the TX2 in many respects, but especially the peak. I suppose it all comes down to many factors tho', like how tall you are, how the screen is set etc etc.

couple of Magnum ice-cream sticks taped to the underside does the trick

no problems on mine, but different airflow from an 1150GSA screen plus I'm sat a little lower on a shortarse seat...

Mark

I thought the same. but the reason i have the screen high is so my zumo doesnt obstruck the clocks view.

I cant seem to get my head round modifying a helmet :nenau
My rx7 doesnt do it,

Oooh la-de-dah with his magnum.. What's wrong with a choc-ice??

Stick some sticky on wheel weights and get a bigger screen.

Can`t the peak be adjusted up and down? Or even just take it off :nenau

I've had 2 Tour X2s and a VX3 and I've not had an issue with any of them... maybe it's just to do with the way I've got the bike set up.

12 GSA with the screen either half way up or a little over and I use a low seat

I do occasionally get a problem depending on which loan bike I get when mines in for service, but then that's to be expected as the Tour X really isnt designed for something like a R1200S :o

no probs with mine in general use, screen set high. Only time I have an issue is with strong cross winds/gusts, it feels as if my head is being ripped off. Other than that I can't complain, as said above, it's a combination of screen set up and how your sat on the bike in relation to that. For the latter, I have my seat on the low setting and messed around a little with the handlebars to get a set up that works for me.

Have had no problem with mine.

The peak is suppose to be stronger on the 3.

Rubbish???
Lollie sticks
Ice Cream
Had mine for ages (X1) used it all the way to Cape Town yes it stunk by the time I got there but it washed up a treat and I still use it now, so rubbish not my one..

£350 and i have to stick lolly sticks to it!!! I have a lowered adventure seat and am 5ft 11 inch tall. My old x2 didnt do this. Looks like it will be on the forsale site by the end of the week.
The noise was that bad it makes you lose concentration on riding.

so for me its a bag of sh...te

Have you tried an even lower seat / taller seat / messing about with the screen angle, with any luck? Might be cheaper than a new helmet :(

+1 on that... it's unlikely that Aria would have intentionally taken a step backward on the design

also can/have you tried the Tour X2 peak on the Tour X3? - I've never looked but I guess it might be possible.

I know on the VX3 you can adjust the peak angle and if you don't tighten it up properly its adjusts itself...
