Whats the point in buying a Tour X then taking of the peak :nenau
I liked the idea of a peaked helmet with a visor so I bought one. I found that the vibration from the peak gave me headaches, blurred vision and made me feel ill within minutes of riding so I took it off. It's still a good looking helmet without the peak, so no problem. Most people seem to get on alright with them, I don't know why I'm different. Maybe it's just the combination of my height, riding position, screen position and unknown factor X.

John - the tour-x is great for misting, especially in the rain. When it's really wet you can't see a thing! Unless you fit a foggy mask or similar which cures the misting completely.

Just bought me one of these.....

It's very very light, visor doesn't fog, quiet and the peak keeps the sun out a treat. :bounce1

Sounds good value against the LWR alternative :mmmm

You can get the Tour X for £250 anyway. That HJC one in another thread looks excellent value although IMHO there doesn't look to be enough airflow through the peak. It could be a very neck-wrenching experience. I don't know if the Tour X does that or not, but I know my BMW one doesn't and my old HJC had to tipped at just the right angle to allow the air to flow through it well enough.

If i`m doing some m`way blastin`then I take the Peak off......Brilliant lid.....Here`s a picture of mine with Mr. Hummers stickers on... :)

I've got the silver Motard and am generally pleased with the lid. Took some getting used to being that I have always had "flip up" lids before.

Took the visor off the other week to go offroading with some Oakley goggles and the black plastic cam on the side was in three pieces :(

Still waiting for a replacement part.....

I found it very cold in the winter but an Oxford Huff cured most of the problems.

Looking forward to wearing it more now the weather is warming up a bit :thumb

Think I might wear it to the Ace in the morning :D

Jon :)

Seriously thinking about buying a spare as someone posted that Arai are to stop making them.

Nope, not true, at least for this year it's not. They've just brought out three new paint schemes for this year along with the white, black and aluminium colours.

Now this is posing

Just bought one of these:

Absolutely fantastic helmet, really comfy and suits the bike superbly. Frankly I would never put any other brand on my head

Is that a fotoshop or are my eyes playing up?

I purchased mine a couple of months ago and it’s the first helmet I have owned that had a peak fitted.

A first I wasn’t sure but pretty soon realised the benefits in low sun and with oncoming cars that refuse to dip their headlights.

I think the only disadvantages I have found is when riding in strong crosswinds on fenland roads this weekend, the peak did mean that occasionally there was slightly more twisting force and I did suffer from misting problems prior to fitting a Pinlock insert.

Nope it's the new 'Challenge Red' paint scheme. There is a blue and a yellow as well. I think it will look cool with an iridium visor

Since we're discussing Arai lids, I thought I'd share this...

Had a bad crash last November - rear ended while waiting at a red light by a van doing 40mph. Didn't see me or bike or lights apparently. At the hospital, one of the A&E nurses was talking to me, and she picked up my lid and pointing at the Arai logo said "These are the good ones." It was an Arai Quantum F.

As far as I'm concerned motorcycle mags etc can say all they like; If a nurse in A&E recommends Arai, that's what I'll buy, (Especially since my head was ok). The quantum f took damage and so I replaced it. With another Arai.

I doubt I'll buy anything else now. :thumb

My GP calls motorcycles "kidney machines" as in a source of donor organs.
