Redcap you mention a set made with an angle bottom at teh front don't supposed any pictures of them available?

Am I right that s steff's "boxes" are not coated and are bare ally? I could very well be interested in the next couple of months

Your best bet Shaun would be to PM Redcap then give him a ring. I was speaking to him last night about different size and finish options etc and found him to be a friendly helpful chap. I certainly hope to do business with Roger in the near future.

can you fit a helemt in the larger of the two?

Unfortunately not, but if you dont mind the extra width i'm sure Roger will make you a pannier wide enough.

Mines are

440mm x 400mm x 210mm

440mm x 400mm x 260mm

Hi all i have a set of panniers on ebay at moment if anyone is interested ends this weekend cheers Roger

Well, after a lot of prevaricating about the bush I ordered a set of panniers from Roger.

Last week he dropped them off in a depot in Huntingdon where we have trucks loading on a daily basis and I had them home the next day.

They were very very well packaged. :)

Don't you just love that first look inside? :bounce1

Oh, they're big. :eyebrow :spank

Easter Monday was set as the fitting day. Because I run a stubby pipe I had to modify my TT brackets to bring them in closer to the bike where the silencer would normally be.

The off-side is unaffected and simply bolts straight on.

ard5.jpg

On the near-side I cut the existing mounting brackets from the frames and started to set up the new positions for the brackets.

There was a lot of trial and error, putting the frames on, taking them off again to make a modification then offering them back up again. Eventually though it was done.

Everything was looking pretty good at this stage but then I noticed that the pannier frame was blocking access to the seat lock. :blast

Out with the angle grinder again. :augie

ard11.jpg

And viola. Sorted. :)

ard12.jpg

Now the indicators want in on the act too. It's a pretty easy fix though.

All that remains now is to get the frames cleaned up. I think I will just paint them for now then have them powder coated over next winter.

Ready for the road. Can't wait to get using them now. :bounce1:bounce1

As the first person in Ireland to have a set of Ard Cases I had no chance to view before committing to buy, but I needn't have worried. The panniers are very well made indeed and seem to be very strong. The powder coating finish is the exact colour I specified and (IMO) looks very good.

I will post again on my experience of using the panniers for weekends away etc but based on my dealings with Roger and seeing his product I can heartily recommend Ard Cases.

Are you sure there will be enough room for ALL MY STUFF now ?:P :D
Mandy, I'm sure, given the size of both cases, there will be more than adequate space for your stuff, but where will Aidan stow his stuff ? :nenau :D

They look very well, well enough to make me reconsider the future of my Pizza box. I think it's the straight
lines of these cases is what I like, and I suppose I'd be fairly conscious of quality/cost. :o

I particularly like your no nonsense solution to the seat lock being obscured, cut it, weld it, sorted ! :clap:thumb2

ps. My indicators are going to get the stubby treatment too. :thumb

Well wear lad. :beerjug:

It's just a wee bit of stainless pipe I got made up at a local exhaust makers for the princely sum of £10.

I'm sorry, but I don't know if you can do the same on a 1200. :o

Millard,

I've been speaking to several people about putting a stubby on the 1200.

It transpires that the Cat is in both the 'Y' piece and the silencer. This would probably make the bike too loud with the stubby on. It will also create a lot of extra heat as the 1200's run very hot I'm told.

There is the option of lowering the silencer so it fits under the box. If you look on Jesse's site you can see his lowering bracket. He might even ship you the lowering bracket on it's own :nenau

I decided to leave mine be, I wanted to keep the high level exhaust.
My original plan was to fit a long slim pipe up under the frame allowing for the bigger left hand box.

Val.

Hi Roger, I would be interested in a set for an 1150GSA with fitting kit. I am looking for panniers which don't stick out further than the cyliner heads and are black all over.

NSC, forum rules state that you can't buy or sell on the site unless you are a site sponsor. For that reason I have edited your post.

Thank-you
