ARDcase

I had originally intended to go with the Touratech frame but think the 2009 price has sky-rocketed to an eye watering £260 dabs (nearly the same price as the scrumptious Ardcase's themselves). Is it worth the extra £100 dabs or have I priced them wrong??

I thought about the Holan frame but have read several articles about how they make the cases a tad wide.

Decisons decisions ..

Wish I could make my mind up :blast cuz I can hear the Ardcase calling my name over and over ........

Holan`s for me

Have just bought my ard cases from roger. He supplied me a holan frame, which i fitted yesterday. It does not sit wide, its actually close to the exhaust. Will post pictures as soon as the cases have arrived. The frame is very strong built, powder coated, fits perfect, only one small problem, which roger is putting right. The bracket that connects to the rear foot rest needs a small plate for the bolts to go through (pics to follow). Speak to roger about the frame (very knowledgable chap).

Pics soon.:thumb2

Thanks for all the replies guys!!

.. seriously .. its advice and offers like this that make this site just right for this particular wee tosser!! :thumb2

Thanks for the offer BSD .. I really appreciate the offer and the fact that are saving me a shed full of money!!

I have decided to go with Vern in the end because he is going to manufacture frames specifically for the 1200GS along with the panniers.

Doh!! I was meant to keep quiet about the fact that Vern is going to produce panniers and frames specifically for the 12GS. sorry bout that Vern .. hope I dont get a boot in the arse for letting that wee jem slip. :aidan

Redcap's ARD panniers are still quality items nevertheless! ;)

I've joined the list of very satisfied purchasers of 'Rogers' ardcases.

Received the cases one off 8" and one off 10" plus Holan racks, all very well packaged.
Fitted them yesterday to my 1150GS.

Bike Preparation:
Move rear indicators 4" rearwards using home made brackets.

Rack Fitting:
Very easy, only 8 bolts. Two adjustments were required - one, to bike silencer to move 1/4" inboard (not enough clearance to rack) - second one to elongate the bolt holes in the rack rear cross brace (brace as supplied 1/2" short).

Box Fitting:
Also very easy. Using the method given on Touratech USA webpage.
(Initial attachment of pucks using double sided foam adhesive tape).

Figures which may be of some help:
Bike width across mirrrors - 37.2"
Bike width across fitted boxes - 35.8"
Gap, silencer to rack 1/4"
Gap, rear or rear footpegs to front of boxes 1/2"
If choosing hinge lid option the maximum width of any top box can only be 14.5"

Overall it's looking good and thanks to Roger for his help and prompt delivery.

YaY Ive got Mine.

I have got my new cases from roger. They are some quality kit. I will post some pics tomorrow evening. Just waiting for the laquer to bake off. Rodger is a top fella to deal with. I fitted the cases last night, with the aid of some sticky sided tape, best way to fit the puck`s.
Washed the bike today so it will look reasonably clean for the pic with its new shiny cases.

Eagle-eyed viewers may have spotted that I have changed the standard fastners for locking, spring loaded ones. For me, these are a better option than padlocks although they do add about £90 to the price of the panniers. The original catchplates were retained.

Where did you buy the fasteners, Denis? And are they all keyed the same (one key opens all)?

I have four keyed-alike padlocks on mine, but they do get a bit noisy when the road gets bouncy :D

I fitted quite small padlocks on mine, and not noticed any rattling, but then mine is an 1150 ! The catches keep the padlocks off the pannier, and so prevent rattling. All keyed to one key.

Nice to see that you are a well prepared 1200GSer carrying a Tow rope for when you break down.
They aren't as reliable as the 11*0's, Looks good though. :thumb

That isnt a tow rope its a luggage strap i picked up at N.E.C.

Ard case up date, after riding home last night and hitting a patch of black ice my near side case no resembles a laptop bag.:blast
Quick call to roger and he has another to send me.

So i will post pick of my new ard case laptop bag soon.:blast

Cheers roger for being a well prepared chap.

Could you convert it to an ultra-slim top box:confused:

Sorry to hear you had an "off" - I was in the car Thursday night to meet up with Chad in Essex, but gave up. Car was all over the road, on one of the few hills around here (I use the word "hills" loosely, as this is Cambridge)>
Long line of cars all getting stuck, so glad I wasn't on the bike, for once !!
Bet it could have been worse if you didn't have the Ard Cases on ?

Hope you're OK though -sunny today, so off out soon !!!

If anyone is thinking about a pair of Ard - Cases for a GS1200 -

Pair of ArdCases £325 delivered

Givi Pannier Racks to fit GS1200 - £110 delivered

Ebay - New Givi pannier racks

Total cost - £435 - Sorted :thumb2

Al :thumb2

Im gonna be investing in some of Rodgers finest very soon but i just need to clarify something

On the link here to the givi rails, it shows that the givi rails have the two sticky out bits at the bottom for slotting the givi panniers in and the sticky out bit at the top for clicking the givi panniers into. However, i thought that the rails would need to be completely 'flat' for the ARD cases to sit true and flush - is this not the case?

Im looking to fit some of rodgers cases onto these kinda rails on a Yamaha TDM 900 too.

Any help would be great. :)
