So I thought I’d have a look at getting trying to get a deal on a new GS before the new model is launched. Spoke with my local dealer and they have offered me what i think is an insult at £7.8k for my bike against a new GS Exclusive. My bike is 2015 GS TE with 17k, FBMWSH, engine bars, spot lights and in good condition. Honda on the other hand have offered me 9k against either an Africa Twin or Crosstourer and Im seriously considering it however, I am yet to ride either of the Hondas in anger and realise that I may end up disappointed after the GS.

Am I being a little delusional in expecting nearer the 9k from BMW?

If Honda have offered £9k then BMW are taking the piss out of you
£7800 is a joke - what was it new ... nearer £14.5k???
Ask BMW dealer to match Honda or you're off
As I predicted winter is coming and so the low ball offer is coming
Dealer doesn't want a load of over priced used stock over winter and also with a new 1250 on the horizon
Used WC prices are on the slide

Of course they are going to try and buy your bike for as little as possible but £7.8k is seriously offensive.

Q4 starts 1st Oct why not look then? Will be different offers.

Try another BMW dealer. Pit them against each other. Buyers market in my opinion.

If you’re staying on-road, you might find the Crosstourer better, a bit heavier mind.

Supply & demand - probably rather too many September trade-ins around TBH. No UK dealer (Bowker?) really wants to take the risk of over-wintering inventory, with a new model on the horizon, so this could be an underwriter's price. Just shop around as suggested, try the Honda &, dare I say, the KTMs too.

Still, with sterling low, the European dealers should be clearing anything remotely attractive.

Johnny, on the one hand you say that £7.8k is a joke as a part ex and on the other you say that used LC prices are on the slide. Which is it?

A friend has a 2014 GS TE with 8k on the clock and he has been offered over £9k on a trade in. Therefore your dealer is pulling your pants down.

If your bike runs well and in good condition, do you really want to part with around £7,000 for a bike the same, but minus the engine bars and spotlights. Spend £400 and get a years warranty for piece of mind...You are more likely to get a better deal early next year once the new model reaches the show rooms and BMW dealers still have older models to shift... I have a 65 plate TE Adventure with 13 k on the clock was offered £10,500 if I kept on the panniers against a new Rallye Adventure.. All I could see that was different, apart from the decals was it had a TFT screen.
To be honest I have run my bike for over 2 years and it has had no fueling issues, it has run very smoothly until its last service when it had an update. It now hunts on a steady throttle and I seem to have to rev it a lot more when taking off from standstill as the clutch now engages nearer the end of its travel. Its been back to dealer to check it over but not any better. On the plus side it still runs far better than the new F800 GS that I was lent .

What I meant is yes £7800 is a joke and just shows how perhaps WC prices are on the slide as a real time example

Airhead GS prices though ........ are going up week on week

I’d say £7,800 is a lot lower then the GFMV of a three year old bike on PCP - reckon that would be around £9k...

I’d say the dealer does not want your bike so has low balled you as a chancer.

Face facts at the moment dealers will be trying to screw top money for sales of new 2018 bikes they have in stock (despite the fact that they appear to be getting superceded in the new year..... so there will be no new bikes appearing over the winter as production of the K50/K51 bikes has ceased ), whilst at the same time telling you that because the model is being replaced your 2015 bike is basically worthless

It's not offensive
It's not taking the piss

It's an offer.

Accept it or don't.

It's a fucking choice!!! Take it or leave it.

Thanks for your words of wisdom.....I had no idea that it was my decision:blagblah:blagblah

not too far out I would think, it depends on the price to swop, if they are offering discount on the new bike.
I doubt Honda will be discounting so they maybe have a lot more to play with in the deal.
I would take the extras off & sell them on here, & still go for another £500

That’s the thing, both Hondas are heavily discounted (Crosstourer massively) and are even offering 0% if I want it
