Does anyone have any experience of these boots, are they water tight, comfortable, easy to walk in, any draw backs. Do you know where they can be baught cheap!! Any help much appreciated
I wanted a pair of GS boots for trail and all round riding but they are too narrow for me. I would recommend trying some before you buy as I don't have a particularly wide foot and they were really tight.
They seem well put together and easier to walk in than normal MX boots due to the ankle hinge (the main reason I wanted to try them).
For outright hard offroad use, racing etc I've heard they're not as robust as a pair of alpinestars though and at £200ish they're not cheap.
Depends what you want them for.
No MX style boot is totally waterproof. If thats your main concern and you only intend to ride on road then you might be better with something like a daytona roadstar gtx or their mx style boot. Roadstar gtx's are ace
As already mentioned they are zero percent waterproof. I've also had problems with mine basiacally falling to bits, buckles coming off, plastic straps breaking, in the end got the boots replaced under warranty, so overall not very impressed to be honest.
They will be used for mainly road use, with maybe a little green laneing thrown in. Heine Gerike do a boot that is similar and a bit cheaper, thanks for the imput guys.
These are a great allround boot. Waterproofing is excellent (like wellies, but very breathable), very comfortable to walk in.
The protection is ok, but not great and I find they stretch after about a years use and feel "baggy".
I have a pair of AlpineStars Tech3 for messing around off road (where I want more ankle protection).
For all other use and occasional offroad, the Heing Gericke are great, but I don't think the ankle protection is better than other bike boots and nowhere near as good as offroad boots.
I got mine about a year ago, wanted them for some green laning. I tried on all the big makes and I found these fitted the best, they are the best for walking in, Sidi's did look better quality to me though. They are not water-proof as I found out after going through my first big puddle, I bought a pair of seal skin socks and that sorted out that problem. Very comfy for riding in and standing on the pegs..They look loads better once you get them covered in mud aswell
Not that long ago one of the beemer dealers was selling these new for just £105, absolute bargain I thought, a guy on here that I gathered worked there would of got me a pair sent had I decided to go ahead for a pair, he was a very helpful chappy.
I was not 100% then and still unsure as thought they looked a bit too plastic if you know what I mean, if in doubt dont I always say
