Fanum is picking up my 1200GS on Thursday to whisk it down to Morocco
Gave it a full going over at the weekend to check fasteners, filters, fit new fornt brake pads, etc etc and noticed a "misting" of oil around the joint on the lower part of my FD unit, hmmm not good.
Went for ride to check new brake pads and tyre pressures at local garage. There I noticed a sizable pool of oil had gathered on my rim after 10 minutes on the side stand
There ws no sign of drips form under teh FD unit, no sign of oil on the disk, so it looks like it has dribbled down the offside of the wheel itself ( cast not spoked )
I spoke with Coopers Tunbridge Wells, who advised having it looked at. Straight away.
The race is now on. BMUU assist will, allegedly, be picking up from my home at 2p.m. to take the bike to Coopers. I am at work in London.
Coopers have said they will try and get on to it as soon as it gets there
I am hoping it is not so serious that it will have to languish in their workshop. They warned against risking riding it on a low oil level - last person they knew to try it managed 400 miles before the shaft seized. Not something I wish to experience in the woolly backs of Morocco.
