Hi Y’all, I’m new here and new to the GS Bike World, having just bought my first ever BMW, a GS1200.
Last year my mate and I did a circular trip starting and finishing at the motorail terminal in Vienna, across Hungary, Romania, Moldova and into the Ukraine. From Odessa up to Kiev, west to Lvov and into Poland. From Krakow through Slovakia and back to Austria. An awesome 2500 miles and some great times. Geoff was on a K1200RS which regularly shed its panniers on the potholed roads, and me on a Pan-Euro which got wrestled from hole to rut and back again! This time we’re on the GS and Geoff’s got a GS1200 Adventure.
Decided this year to go “Around the Adriatic”, this time we start from the motorail in Bologna (after ferry from Newcastle and train from Holland), clockwise through Italy, Slovenia and Croatia where we’ll spend most time travelling down the coast, across Montenegro into Albania. From there down to Igoumenitsa and the ferry to Brindisi, then ride up through Italy to Bologna.
We’re enjoying these “round” trips, our first was “Around the Baltic” which was magic. Next year we might try “Around the Black Sea”!
We’re off on the 7th August, so I’ll post something when we get back.
