ride report

hi arsey.great report/pics.just came across it today.i did the 'nappy' route in '07,first big distance ride on a gs1200 which i had only bought 3 months.
earlier. wanted to see if it was as good as the reports said it was....and it was!...did calais/troyes/annecy.the annecy pics don't do the place justice.it's a stunning area, mountains, lake, roads.i stayed in the old church, just out of picture next to bridge where the bikers park up. chained bike to front door (almost!) 30 euros for b&b (which was megga cheap in '07) headed off for the nappy route from there. got lost in grenoble, signs were bit misleading, but had fun with the locals and my very limited fronse!...also,the tramlines gives one a easy get out clause if you want a quick 'u' turn in the 1 way system!...
nappy was great, literally riding with a coathanger in yer gob!...so much to see,it can be dangerous as you take the eyes off the road tho. stayed in nice, across to cannes and into st tropez.found a great road out of tropez which didn't have a straight bit for more than 400mtrs,and empty.
if anyone wants a great week or so,do this.it really is a joy, altho don't make the mistake i did,and go in august. bloody hot (34deg) with a hot wind,so no respite, even at 70mph........it's wot 2 wheels were invented for!......tyke

To resurrect an old thread,I'm planning on re-doing this trip next summer on my KTM 950 SE with a few mates.

I used to have a map for the RDGA but must have left it with Wife 1 !:blast

Does anybody have one for sale or know where to get one-I can't remember the source.

And does anybody have a data file for the RDGA route that I can upload to Basecamp and my 660 ?

I can't find the one that I had back in 2008 as have changed computers a couple of times since.

Michelin Routes des Alpes de moto is a good map with RDGA well laid out,is part of a small book. Loads of other Alpine routes in too.
I did have a RDGA map poss from mapsman will have another look. May have lent it out :blast
We had a good pamphlet I ordered online, that had all the route on too.

I may be back with more info.:thumby:
