We (two bikes, two riders and two pillions) are off to Asturias in mid/late Sept for a week. We will be based on the coast at Ribadesella, coming in via the ferry to Bilbao and returning via Santander

I have the "All Routes" gpx files downloaded to my Basecamp to check out pre-planned routes available in the area and intend to use some/all of those, depending on weather and general laziness.

However, I would welcome people's views on which are the best to do. And which towns and/or sites are "must do's"

My first time in this area, soo general advice welcome

The N625 and N621 going through the Picos are worth doing and you should visit Potes and Fuente De ( Go up to the top of the mounatin on a cable car) .

I rode the N625 along the lakeside 5 times from Riano; out and back, out and back, out and round to Cangas de Onis last September (wife didn't feel well so stayed at the Hotel while I had an hour out...turned into 4) Probably the best road I have ever ridden. Stunning

All roads around Riano...just had my 5th visit 2 weeks ago to the Picos :thumb2:thumb

I have visited all of the above and can honestly say they are all fantastic, Ribadesella has a beautiful harbour and beach, lots of restaurants doing the menu of the day which is excellent value.
Hope you enjoy
Safe biking

Many thanks for all your advice

Any suggestions for a paper map? My default would be to go for the Michelin one

Covadonga up to Picos de europa superb scenery. A word of warning though as we were there ( in a car!) 2 weeks ago, you cant get up the road past Santa Cueva de Covadonga on a motorcycle or car, restricted access is via coach or mini bus! Not sure if you get up before 9am, as there were one or two cars and bikes up there (literaly 1 or 2..), if you can go up.
There will be cones and traffic wardens, and police due to the huge numbers of visitors.

Obviously this was last week of July so a busier time, but worth checking up before traveling miles especially just to see...... ;)

East from Ribadasella to Llanes, then take A-115 up to its junction with AS-114, turn left and head to Panes. Then you can take AS-343 back onto E70 back to base.

Road to Rianno is fantastic - Potes for a meal. Cable Car at Fuente De to test your vertigo :)

If you are on the Sunday 18th Sept crossing i will be joining you on my new 650 VSTROM. Can't wait!

Am on the P'mouth - Bilbao ferry sailing at 21.20hrs on the 18th Sept.

See you in the bar, or probably on the quayside or car deck!

We will be getting the ferry to Santander on the 27th August and staying in in the heart of the Picos at the Hotel del Oso :)
