Probably my favourite road in the whole of Spain, the ZA125/LE125

Ridden it many times in both directions on a number of bikes. Surface like a fast track. Fast sweepers and zero traffic.

Let me know what you guys think? Normally book mid price hotels with parking close to the centre of each town/city. We do like a few beers and something decent to eat each night.

That'd be a great trip. Some good mileage days but as there's only two...you'll be fine.

A self-catering option that I have used three times, right in the heart of Potes. Great value and you get the attention of a wonderful Spanish widow lady (Pilar) and her daughter (Steady). Secure parking for eight bikes with lockable gates. Plenty of space for wet kit. Traditional dark wood property that we called 'The Haunted House'. I would go back in a heart beat.

My latest review:

Another great stay at Casa Las Vegas and cracking value.

1. Big old Asturias house with lots of original features e.g. dark wood, stone.2. Lots of room for each person - plenty of room to store or dry motorcycle kit.3. Fully equipped kitchen.4. Very clean.5. Plenty of hot water with great shower pressure.6. Secure parking for about 10 motorcycles with lockable gate.7. Less than 5 minute walk from the centre of Potes.8. Less than 3 minute walk for a great place for breakfast (Nisio y Edith) although you could do your own.9. 5 Minute walk from two supermarkets.10. Very friendly and helpful host - No English spoken but Google translate works fine! Daughter speaks English.11. Very good value.12. Second stay at the address. I would always try and book it.

Nothing.

I reckon this " golden triangle" is about the best in the area for a day ride....

We stayed there about 12 years ago...her husband was still alive (but probably mid 80s...it took him about 2 hours to type in our details off the passports) It was a superb trip. The ability to go out for a meal or stay and prepare something (and drink very cheap beer) was right up our cheapskate strasse

The guys I went with last year were somewhat sceptical of not using a hotel. By the end of our trip they were firm converts. Two of the group who were in the Hosteria Picos de Europa up the road parked their bikes in our gaff and crashed at our place after becoming 'over refreshed'. It's the first place I try and book. I also like the Valdecora.

It is how we do our small group trips now. We have the option of eating out each and every night...and a few beers too...but that could easily top £50 a night and one or two in the group may feel the trip cost is running away with itself....staying in your own spot means you can spend £50 between 4 or 5 of you on food and beer, have a laugh cooking a meal, a few beers and you've spent around a tenner. It's a big plus for us plebs, not on big wages.

That's what it's all about. Accommodation is getting very expensive in Potes now. I suppose we all used to be big earners but a room is only worth so much money. We only stayed in Potes because two of the group had never been to the Picos before. We stayed in Mieres del Camino as well and rode loops in the mountains either side of the A66 between Oviedo and Leon.

We paid €72 per night last year . I think that’s good value

That is good value but I couldn't find a hotel for anywhere near that price when I looked. Even Hosteria Picos de Europa was £110. The others e.g. Del Oso, Infantado, Valdecoro etc. were all booked up. Casa Las Vegas worked out to just under £50 per night.

That was Del Oso last June . Ok, it’s not in Potes but not far away . It’s always been good value , as is the amazing food in the restaurant

The loop we did was roughly:
N621 down to Riano,
N625 out of Riano then up to Oviedo,
followed the coast to the top western tip of Spain (can’t remember the village),
Down to Santiago de Compostella,
Pueblo de Sanabria,
Salamanca (love Salamanca),
Segovia,
Burgos
