Let me know what you guys think? Normally book mid price hotels with parking close to the centre of each town/city. We do like a few beers and something decent to eat each night.

We stayed there about 12 years ago...her husband was still alive (but probably mid 80s...it took him about 2 hours to type in our details off the passports) It was a superb trip. The ability to go out for a meal or stay and prepare something (and drink very cheap beer) was right up our cheapskate strasseA self-catering option that I have used three times, right in the heart of Potes. Great value and you get the attention of a wonderful Spanish widow lady and her daughter (Steady).
The guys I went with last year were somewhat sceptical of not using a hotel. By the end of our trip they were firm converts. Two of the group who were in the Hosteria Picos de Europa up the road parked their bikes in our gaff and crashed at our place after becoming 'over refreshed'. It's the first place I try and book. I also like the Valdecora. We stayed there about 12 years ago...her husband was still alive (but probably mid 80s...it took him about 2 hours to type in our details off the passports) It was a superb trip. It is how we do our small group trips now. We have the option of eating out each and every night...and a few beers too...but that could easily top £50 a night and one or two in the group may feel the trip cost is running away with itself....staying in your own spot means you can spend £50 between 4 or 5 of you on food and beer, have a laugh cooking a meal, a few beers and you've spent around a tenner. It's a big plus for us plebs, not on big wages. The guys I went with last year were somewhat sceptical of not using a hotel. By the end of our trip they were firm converts. That's what it's all about. Accommodation is getting very expensive in Potes now. I suppose we all used to be big earners but a room is only worth so much money. We only stayed in Potes because two of the group had never been to the Picos before. We stayed in Mieres del Camino as well and rode loops in the mountains either side of the A66 between Oviedo and Leon.It is how we do our small group trips now. We paid €72 per night last year . I think that’s good valueThat's what it's all about. Accommodation is getting very expensive in Potes now. That is good value but I couldn't find a hotel for anywhere near that price when I looked. Even Hosteria Picos de Europa was £110. The others e.g. Del Oso, Infantado, Valdecoro etc. were all booked up. Casa Las Vegas worked out to just under £50 per night. We paid €72 per night last year . I think that’s good value
That was Del Oso last June . Ok, it’s not in Potes but not far away . It’s always been good value , as is the amazing food in the restaurantThat is good value but I couldn't find a hotel for anywhere near that price when I looked. Wife and I stayed at lerma last September, thought the place was just fine, we were in a car though, I think there are better places to rest your head if on bike…We have stayed at many Paradors, all good except the de lerma during the festival!
