As a Bristol boy, I'm well aware of the attractions and otherwise of the land of the hillside welcomes

After the gearbox is refettled (not a brilliant job on the rebuild by Keith, regrettably - wrongly torqued casing led to oil leak & 1st gear slipping) it'll be going to its foster home in fine condition, thanks for asking

The strange thing is that Keith builds gearboxes as a profession. Not road-going but aircraft.

I will chastise him accordingly.

Weird. Jim Cray was able to pull the output shaft seal flange off by hand and none of it had been torqued down sufficiently to align the gears correctly (which led to the trouble) - it also led to an oil leak. The low oil level led to the damage to the helical gears etc. All now well - re-con gearbox and (OE) clutch plate being re-fitted Monday - still more than happy with my bike, so don't bother chastising him for my sake
