ATC 2000 Helmet Mounting Kit

Guys, I can see that a few of us seem to have these bullet cams now, and I dont know if you have found this, but the standard tackle that you get for mounting your cam, excludes the ability to top mount it - LWR & LWD style.

Having tried the cam on the side of my lid and on the top ( crudley done as an experiment), I have noticed that all head movement is exagerated when mounted to the side rather than the top which is much more steady.

has anyone made or know where to get a mount to enable you to fit the camera to the top of your lid?

I am considering getting one of the Techs at work to design & fabricate something, but dont want to do that if anyone else has already made something?

Perhaps you can let me know?

I made up a bit of kit to use with my Archos Bullet Camera.

Mounted on helmet with a suction tripod mount from Lidl (£1.99)

The Archos bullet camera dosn't have a tripod thread socket so had to make up a suitable holder to connect the Bullet camera to the suction tripod mount.

Worked find on a couple of helmets including the BMW Enduro one. Suction is nice and secure and no problems getting thrown about in that Caterham around Knockhill, nor in a Lotus 340R just after it.

the key is that you need to raise the camera up by about 25mm depending on the type of lens. We've used high density foam out of packing cases, shaped it to mount the camera on then the rest is made from velcro. giving fixing points to the camera and the helmet

the picture shows a simpler solution it's a camera which came with a head band mount for skiing. so we just threaded the velcro into the buckle arrangment

I would not recommend any metal mounts, brackets etc. to be attached to the helmet cos there's a real risk if your unlucky and land badly it could punch stright through into yer swede

also using it takes abit of getting use to as you need to hold shots for several seconds or it all looks cr4p.

Loads of interesting bits and pieces, but expensive. They are selling the same suction mount I bought for £1.99 in Lidls for £15.00.

Well, I finally got it finished!

After looking around - no one does this kind of thing, so I had one made.

I have tested it, and it works a treat, easy to put on and take off via velco, Ive tested it to 100mph and its fine.

You can cgange the batteries and sd card without undoing the mounting itself.

So very easy.

If anyone wants one, let me know and I will get a price to get some made

i just use a 2 inch x 2 inch patch of velcro (adhesive one side..just stick it to your helmet, stick the other side to the bracket on the cam) -

works fine - cam not fallen off yet - getting some good footage....

Rather than fitting to my helmet, I used the handlebar bracket supplied and attached it to one of the front indicator stalks,

works a treat

That looks like the Samsung camera which I also have. I found that the mounting plate is just the right size for google straps. This has the added benefit of not having to attach anything permanent to the helmet.

It's actually better quality in reality, but youtube screws with it. You can pick up the camera and remote lense for about 175 pounds. The only thing wrong with it is that the mic suffers from wind noise which means you can never hear the bike :-( Other than that, top kit
