This year my European trip is into Central Austria, pretty much bang in the middle - South of Linz, North of Villach and West of Graz. I’ve never been to Austria before and always heard good things about it. My aim/hope is i can do a few day trips out and cross the borders into Slovenia, Hungary And Czech to add a few more places to the list.

Day 1 was a very straight forward 500 mile motorway hack from Home to just outside of Frankfurt to stay at Burgstadt CampingPark.
There is a Hotel on site, and a Greek restaurant too.
The grounds for Camping is all hardcore - so if Camping you’ll definitely need a groundsheet to protect the underside. If you’re Motorhoming/Caravanning you’ll be fine. Each pitch has an Electric hook up and water available, which is a nice Bonus.

Day 2 was moving onto the more scenic roads to head South to stay just outside of Munich at Campingplatz Landsberg. There was also a restaurant onsite here too, which did a good array of food (looking at the menu). This place for some reason attracted a lot of high end Caravans, Motorhomes & Cars (Super Cars, Rare Classic Cars etc). Maybe i was there the same time as the yearly Mobsters holiday. Who knows.
I was dubious about this part of the journey due to all the bad weather in the area recently. However the journey there was dry, and none of the roadds of routes locally appeared to be affected - although you could see the Rivers were at a higher than normal level.
That night there was Rain from 7pm until i left about 8am the next morning. It ranged from light drizzle to full on torrential rain, and multiple thunderstorms.
Thankfully the campsite field was built well as the field did not flood, and there was only a few puddles around.

Day 3 was the final travel day from Munich across to my final destination in Austria for 5 days. Again, on the more scenic routes for most of the travel.
Heading across into Austria, it very much looks like Switzerlan>Italy transition with high mountain tops, mountain ranges and multiple tunnels & routes through the Mountains/hills. Austria itself is a very green Country with endless rolling hills as far as the eye can see.
I found a great riding section, and a new favourite road in the B307>RO52. Endless corners, scenery & technical riding.

Day 4, today. A much needed rest day after 1100 miles the last 3 days. Sorting out my camping gear to dry it out, get some washing done, shop for some food & plan what to do the rest of the week.

Sounds like a great trip. I agree that if you're camping, an admin day every few days is a great idea. Enjoy the rest of the trip.

Day 5
A trip into Ljubljana today, despite the awful weather. It started off very wet and low temps this morning in Austria, and brightened up the futher South i went into Slovenia. I mostly took the twisty roads down to the border, then jumped onto the Motorway for the last 20 miles or so. I was hoping the Vignette was going to be a stick, but alas no. It’s all done online and no sticker is available - boo!
The City Centre seemed like a nice place, with free street side Motorbike parking and some nice Architecture. On on of the main squares, there was numerous Bears, arranged in Circles - The Buddy Bears. Some Art/Culture thing about Tolerance.

A catch up now i am back home.

Day 6 was due to be a day trip out across the Grossglockner, however it was closed to Motorbikes when i arrived due to Snowfall at the top! So it was a bit of a ride/there & back but an enjoyable day none the less.
I managed to ride a great pass, very close to the accommodation called the Sölkpass. A very good road to ride, which climbs to a peak of 1700 metres! On the day i rode it, the top was a chilly 2 degrees, thick fog & light Snowfall. On the descent on the North side there are free roaming Cows - the Fog made this a bit more of a challenge than i'd have liked.....

Day 7 was a short local ride out to a nearby Castle, Hochosterwitz. It's set right on top of a Hill with the access being either walking up through the 14 gates, or in a glass lift which nigh on rises vertically from the Car Park. Even in full Bike gear the walk up was relatively easy and you got to see all the Gates & scenery as you ascend to the top.

It's been a Family owned Castle since it was built in the 1500's, and was used to Protect the local Towns population, in case of invasion. There's a great little Museum there (no pictures allowed) of the Weapons, Armoury and development of it throughout the hundreds of years.

A few snaps from the Castle.

Day 8 was leaving Day, and time to head home.

I left the accommodation at 7.30AM to start making my way to my Campsite in Lindau, Germany. This was certainly one of my best riding days on the trips - thanks to the warmer, drier weather & the roads i'd put together.

Tonights Campsite was a place called Campingpark Gitzenweiler Hof. This was a fairly big park, mainly for Families & Motorhomes by the looks of it. It had a little shop on site, restaurant and other facilities. You got free local Transport when staying here, if you wished to Bus into Town and explore on foot.

Day 9 was a jaunt from Lindau up to Bitches, France for the final stop of the trip.

This was another great day on the Bike with some fantastic Roads. Not many pictures from the day as i was having too much fun riding!

Tonights Campsite was Camping Ramstein Plage. Not the best site, as it was not too near anything and the shower/toilet block were very dated and in need of work.

Day 10 was a Motorway slog home, for the last 400ish Miles. My rear shock decided it no longer wanted to proved any Damping control about 2 hours from Eurotunnel, so the rest of the way home was a bit bouncy in places.
Whilst i thought i did well to get there Early, and on an earlier train i was caught up in a big traffic queue for people returning from Le Mans. I still returned earlier than my original train, so i still gained compared to where i would have been!

Overall it was a great trip and added a couple of new Countries for me.
