My primary requirements are to be able to talk with the missus on the back (pillion). I would like this to be a clear conversation . The requirement for adding a telephone is not important although the bike to bike would be nice although , again, not important . It would also be nice to hard wire it into the bike if possible.

I have looked at the autocom website and have a good idea of the way to go . I just thought asking for advice is always better before a prospective purchase than afterwards.

What is the most cost effective way, in your experience , of carrying this out and what wouyld you anticipate the cost being.

Thanks for your time

Last year got an Autocom pro-7 ( I think) , not the basic model, but the fully monty job. Mounted the unit on the bike, bl**dy great 2 up , can talk without shouting at almost any speed. wifey loves it, can plug in mobile phone and stereo if I want. It's real easy to use.I can't remember how much I paid, but it wasn't cheap. Worth every penny tho'. Don't be tempted by other cheaper systems, they are mostly cr*p, spend the money and get the best.

I have an Autocom Pro system on a K 1100 LT and a Eurocom on an R 1150 GS, which perform very well, but I have heard good reports about these http://www.tecstar.co.uk/comms/

They are also resonably local to you at Leicester. (St Ives, Huntingdon)

I fought against having an intercom for years. I relented and got an Oxford Bike 3 set. Used it for a year and I am now a convert. Got an Autocom 7 smart at the NEC show - 200 pounds. It was not a mistake. I wish I got that system first. I use it with the phone and audio. A nice feature is when you talk the music automatically mutes, then restores to the original setting. Recommended.
