Autocom Half Price SALE

I'm more interested in what is the next 'big thing' from Autocom.

I bought my unit when there was a clear-out of the old to make way for the new a few years ago. I suppose it's almost like having two cans with a piece of string in between them compared to what is available these days. So I think I'm going to go for whatever comes onto the market and is bang up to date.

Im just about to upgrade to the 300, can anyone tell me is there any way to fix the connections(between helmet/bike) to the bike instead of having the wire hanging. Ideally I would like to mount a connection on the bike dash so to speak so all I need to do is plug into the bike from my helmet...any thoughts?

Hi GSRich,

Top effort on the whole half price sale! Must say that I'm very impressed with the new unit - sound is much louder and clearer!

One question - bluetooth adaptor - as it is now powered by the socket and not by bike can the older adaptors be converted?? if so how much!

Ta in advance

Sid

Hi Sid,

I am glad to hear you are liking your new system, it is good to know and always a winner hearing some customer feedback.

BT wise the dongles run different connections, the AUX1 socket is pre-powered and also runs a 4 pole socket (three black rings around the tip of the jack plug) so a 3 pole (two black rings) can not be plugged in.....or it would short the system and can actually lead to board damage.

So as Im a nice chap if you could pop me back your Part 1276 I can convert the power lead for you FOC to allow for the correct connections the Pro needs.

Cheers

Now thats customer support!!!!

Again, superb bit of kit, on third unit now (bike swaps) and always wanted the pro but couldn't justify it.

Anyone teetering on getting one (if they've not already sold out) I've noticed a huge difference in sound quality and volume.
Got mine through chainspeed, very very good service!
My ''comms trial'' when I was setting it up went far too smoothly! Box of tricks is bigger so I needed to do a re-think of position but it still fits under the 1150 tank by the battery box (with a little platform I knocked up) and the puncture repair kit sits nicely on top.
The little noise cancelling mic is also an awsome idea, Tested it on the way to touratech weekend and the long haired general and myself were glad to have decent comms again.

Lord only knows how good the next generation will be!

Thanks GSRich, I'll pop round the post office now I'll FAO it to you

Keep up the great work! Owe you a beer or three!

Hi Sid,

Oh the beer sounds a very good idea and I could do with a pint now tbh. But no worries about the dongle I will get it turned around for you ASAP.

Cheers

Is it just me or is all this a bit confusing ?

I'd like permanent set up on the GS12.
Rider to pillion
Garmin 2610 audio
GS to 2nd bike (how does that work, can all three talk together).
Possibility to add ipod and (more modern) bluetooth GPS at some stage.

2nd bike just needs to talk to first bike but probabaly not a permenant install.

What on earth do I need to buy ?

Is there an idiots guide ?

Paul

It rather depends on what range you want bike to bike

If it's just close in comms - up to 150metres, two or three bikes - consider one of the Bluetooth Class 1 units that clip to your helmets ie Scala Rider

If you want a couple of miles range you will have to invest in Personal Mobile Radios (PMRs) and tie them in with your Autocoms. This does require a certain amount of headscratching and trial as you will have to consider power supply, interface cables, probably Press To Talk (PTT) installation and siting of the radios

Probably best to find someone locally has gone down one of these routes and meet up to see what they have done and encountered

Phone Sam at Chainspeed. He will tell you what you need, and be able to provide it for you..

Autocom connection

I have been advised by the main dealer to use the switched live feed to the side/ parking light to power an Autocom. Has anyone else got this to work ?

Hi GSrich

Maybe you can give me a couple of pointers please? Im a bit (very) clueless when it comes to this kinda stuff.

I see an autocom dealer on line is selling a Super Pro Duo 300 kit at half price - £140. Is this a system that you can supply and at the same price?

I need it to do the following -

Power and connectivity for Tom Tom rider 2

Power and connectivity for an iPod

Power and connectivity for bluetooth mobile

Power and connectivity for rider to pillion

Power and connectivity for (effectively) talking to pupils during instruction

Rider (bike) to Rider (bike) is not a big deal for me.

Would this system do all the above for me and how easy are these systems to install - for a numpty?!

Thanks, Dave.

Paul90, for the most simplest set up I would recommend the below

2x Kit 200 Duo's £100 each (Active Plus rider and pillion kits on the sale)
1x Part 1285 £24 (isolation adaptor for the 2610)
1x Part 1294 £5 (GPS interface lead)
2x Part 1401's £60 each (Midland G7 transceivers for the bike to bike)
2x part 1435's £13 each (Midland G7 interface leads)

Turraloon

We normally sell RTS kits as our normal domastic kits are not used for schools due to the warrantys and also we build our kits around the school and the systems are designed slightly different as in the VOX stays on slightly longer etc.

But if you are wanting to run a Kit300 I would recommend the below for you,

1x Kit 300 Duo £140 ( Super Pro rider and pillion kit)
1x Part 1273 £75 (Bluetooth dongle to connect to the TomTom)
1x Part 1358 £198 (Kenwood TK3201 transceiver)
1x Part 1402 £27 (Kenwood Dummy battery power and audio pack)

MP3 wise this can not be powered via the comms but the BT dongle and Kenwood will be fully bike powered.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply GSRich!

In laymans terms for a thicko like me,

what functions would that 300 kit perform for me without any further spending?

You appear to fairly know your biscuits re bike comms!
