I've just bought the KIT 200 DUO with Motorola Radios for Bike 2 Bike and I'm really pleased with the kit but I've got a couple of problems that I'd like to solve before my trip away in 7 days

Setup: KIT200 Active Rider DUO
Bike: R1200GS Adv
Power: wired into back of 12v Accessory socket
Lid: Arai Astro
Phone: Sony Erricsson W810i

FALSE VOX
Got everything wired up to the bike and helmets fine, but the first problem that I'm getting is false VOX at higher speeds (towards 70) from the wind noise

I've tried all of the tricks in the setup manual (taping chin vents, moved the VOX senstivity from the recommended starting point - eventually round to it's limit, I've even tried wearing thicker neck scarf but no help and as I'm riding in Andalucia it could get a bit :spitfire

Even on the limit I get some false VOX but it becomes almost impossible for me or the pillion to activate the VOX when speaking. Anything less than that and it cuts in all the time - which will be useless with the radios on bike to bike. :nenau

PHONE
I have set the phone to auto answer on headset connection and connected it up using the Sony Erricsson adapter sent to me with the kit. The first time it picks up the call no problem and works fine but once the call is ended it causes intereference in the system and sends really loud crackles  through the system. Only way to stop it is to stop and disconnect - then have to reboot the phone before I can connect it again

Gonna work on it today but would really like to solve both of these next week if anyone's had similar

Have sorted the false VOX by fitting the open face mic conversion

seems to work fine :thumb2

I was going to suggest using PTT instead of Vox. Would have taken your pillion out of the picture though

I understand PTT only works with the radio side, not the intercom (or phone?)

How do you go about fitting PTT to an Active Rider system? I couldn't see anything in their list of accessories.

PTT goes in-line between the radio and the main control unit, it has two 5-pin DIN sockets (one male, one female), connect it in and away you go, but yes it does only deal with the bike2bike comms.

For false VOX on the Intercom play around with the VOX setting (it's very sensitive) or as has been suggested move to the open face boom mic.

Thanks Judge. I think you've hit the nail on the head when you say it only deals with the bike2bike comms. I could easily cobble together a PTT for the radio but thinking about it what I'm after is, I suppose, more of a "VOX disable". The VOX is fine under slow conditions where it's probably most often used anyway, but a pain at speed when wind noise (and my singing :)) operates it too often. I sense a modification in the offing!

I had the same problem with false VOX activation and fixed it by putting a switch in the red mic wire - so I now have "PTT". I used a weatherproof push button sw from Maplins and my local TV repair man did the surgery just below one of the Autocom 7 pin connectors - took him about 30mins and cost me £5.The system works just great except that when I talk on the phone everything I say is transmitted on the radio unless I turn it off!
