I want to fit an Autocom to the GS ADV and would guess that the best place will be on top of the air fiter.

Any one who's already done this recommend a power feed? My initial thought is to plice the positive brake feed from the pedal, but am not sure if this is the normal approach. (which one is the positive by the way?

I took my positive cable back into fuse box and tapped on to the back of an exisitng low amp fuse, and crimped a loop for fastening to negative pole on battery.

Wrap the unit in bubble wrap, & tuck it above the air filter. Take a live feed from the pilot light wire, not the rear light wire as this can fool the system into thinking that the rear bulb has blown. If your lights are on all the time, its best to fit an in line switch, so the autocom can be turned off when the need arrises. Shouting to a mate at traffic lights will deafen your pillion for example.

If your bike has ABS, I wouldn't draw current from any brake circuit.

There are plenty of other ignition switched feeds around the fuse box.

Decided to temporarily take a feed from the Auxilary power socket, I will make a more permanent solution to the fuse box at the weekend its going to be wet after all

Take the power from fuse 4, downstream of the fuse . You can also put the autocom in the fuse box

Mike,

As Steptoe says there's room in the fuse box for the Autocom, although you may have to reposition a couple of the relays. But it's a nice snug fit. I've taken a live feed from teh back of the aux power socket, as this is switched through the ignition circuit. But I bow to Steptoe's knowledge and would go with what he says.

Hi Patch
mines mounted in the fuse box ( active 7), if you want to pop over & have a quick butchers you know where I live. have taken the feed from the rear light. No problems yet.
