spliter lead

if you trawel through the 1200 section you will come across a splitter lead thats a gen BM part that splits the power take off under the seat, you then cut off the redundent plug put in a generic plug (maplins etc) and use that and still keep the plug under the seat.just used mine for the last month on a trip dow:Dn to italy,no probs, there are two part nums however for early and later models, mine cost £23 but is an 06 model, funny tho the new socket,if you want an extra power plug was priced at £40+

Yes ... I had terrible issues with Autcom and the accessory sockets - but my bike was a much earlier 2005 model. I really would have hoped that BMW had sorted their canbus issues by now.

After several dealers blamed software issues, untidy wiring or non-BMW accessories and charged me several hundred quid to investigate/tidy/update ... the problem was eventually fixed in 2009(!) by Vines, who simply took the accessory sockets off the canbus, wiring them directly onto the battery with an in-line fuse. The only issue then was that I had to remember to unplug everything when I wasn't using the bike.

pre and 2006 gs had an update to the canbus late 2006 where the acc socket use to turn off after 5mins IF it didnt recocnize a current drain of more than half an amp or so,the update was done during service and it allowed the power to stay on with the ignition on even it there wasnt a drain.all of this was done to my bike at a later 2006 service BUT prior to this the guys at manchester told me how they got round the problem and my autocomm is STILL working this way 6 years on with no problems. if you look at the rear light where the wires boyonet fitting is there is a spare male and if a feed is taken off this to the + feed for the comm the - can be got from a ground, the drain is that small that it has never interfered with the canbus but today the splitter wire is more of a simple job:thumb
